America’s Army™ (Die Jugend Marschiert) Lyrics
Welcome to the offices of Economic and Manpower Analyses here at our historic and sprawling West Point Academy campus! My name is Mindy! It is my distinct pleasure to introduce you to a loving father of three (and a champion of the sanctioned use of armed force in pursuit of policy objectives). Ladies and gentlemen, put your hands together for the project director of our newest recruitment strategy; our mission to staff future combat systems through current technologies. Without any further ado, I give to you Colonel Casey Wardynski!
(warm applause)
Thank you! Let me begin with some sentimental appeals to our national myths; assorted clichés coined by the state; the ideological shorthand meant to sweep your private doubts [away] of this virtual training course. This portal; this Trojan Horse that you living idiots paid for and actually rolled into your own kids’ rooms.
(stunned silence)
Oops, did I just say that out loud? Oh, well, it’s not like it’s something new. It’s just the logical extension of the decades of bilge water that you’ve let us pump into your homes. The pink noise that hums away in the background while you run the gauntlet we force on you everyday. The billowing candy floss that helps to soften the blow. Deep down you’ve always known that your children already belong to us, so why don’t you cut the outraged parent routine, shut your mouth and get back in your seat. Your children already belong to us. What are you? You will pass on. And they won’t know a fucking thing but this 'community,' this real life Ender’s Game. Forget what you think you know.
Add your song meanings, interpretations, facts, memories & more to the community.
This band is, hands-down, the greatest band to ever emerge from the underground punk scene! So, as follows, here is what I believe the entire song to be:
I agree with everyone who said it's about "America's Army", created by the US Military to get kids involved with a video game depicting the 'glory' of war. However, under the surface, this is anything but true!
Colonel Casey Wardynski is the director of the U.S. Army’s OEMA (Office of Economic and Manpower Analysis) at the United States Military Academy. He was the project originator/coordinator/founder. He basically created this war machine/tool that is now being used to hook/line/sinker the future generation of children into loving war and sticking it in their heads that in real life, they will get to do exactly what they are doing in the game. Exploiting children early gains them their confidence in the future. If the military can be cool enough to make us this game they must rock!
Moving right along through the song, after COL. dick-head is introduced, he surprises the audience by outrageous, Freudian slips. At first, he announces everything in a manner that is pleasing, like all political propaganda, to hear. However, towards the end of the mainstream speech part, he slips and lets everyone know that they've actually help support the war agenda by being so stupid they couldn't see this game for what it really was: a trojan horse to allow the US Military to enter their children's lives. And not only that, the people actually paid for their stupidity outright.
Pink is a soft, non-threatening color, so naturally they've chosen it as their prime directive for "background-noise", because on the surface, it's soothing, but underneath it's another trojan horse.
So now, everyone is outraged, but it's too fucking late, so the COL. tells them all to, basically, shut the fuck up and just sit back down, because soon they'll all be dead and their children will belong to him. And in the end, the children will only know the glorious propaganda-influenced military community, rather than their relationship to nature and the power of human liberty.
OUTSTANDING SONG!
@zmodem Pretty good analysis. Also amazing song, the one the How to clean everything crowd seems to enjoy the most from PCL, well side B of PCL has Chris/Glenn/Pete/Jesus (all the names he's used so far, although it's really just Chris) singing more normally while side A has some thrashy vocals.

This song is the shit, I always thought this game was fucking crazy for parents to let their kids play.
Ha, this song is also challenging all war games that glorify and brainwash kids and young adults.
the songs meaning aside counterstrike doesnt really glorify war in an apparent way to me other then trivialising it
so if people take things to that level then surely any video game depicting violence is gloryfying it
but take grand theft auto for example, the game that gets the most shit from the media, politicians etc. GTA mocks gang warfare, police bruitality, drug dealing, the arms trade, war and all forms of violence if you take the time to pay attention to the storyline behind it (which is funny as fuck by the way)
AA is shite though and propagandhi have a very good point
interesting to note that its trying to get me to to join the british army at the bottom of the screen...
It is important to note the song "Die Jugend Marschiert" at the start of the song and understand what the song actually talks about. It's lyrics are pretty damn disturbing, and the song makes a point of equating the ideology of national and ideological superiority of the neo cons' economic imperialism and the NSDAP's chauvinistic foreign policy.
"Die Jugend marschiert mit frohem Gesang bei Sonnenschein und Regen; die Jugend marschiert mit sieghaftem Drang dem großen Ziel entgegen. Wir stürmen die Welt, geh'n fest unser'n Schritt wer jung ist der fügt sich freilich mit, die Jugend marschiert, kein Pfad ist zu steil, dem Siege entgegen zu eil'n. Sieg Heil!"
which with a bit of quick translation work roughly means
"The Youth are marching with cheerful song in the sun and rain. The Youth are marching with victorious purpose towards the big objective. We'll take over World, going steady in our steps Whoever is young gives themselves up [to Hitler Youth] freely The Youth are marching, no path is too steep to slow down the way to victory. Sieg, as they say, Heil"
“When an opponent declares, "I will not come over to your side," I calmly say, "Your child belongs to us already... What are you? You will pass on. Your descendants, however, now stand in the new camp. In a short time they will know nothing else but this new community.”
Adolf Hitler
Good catch! It really shows these guys pay attention to their lyrical content, and I believe more so in their two latest albums...
