| Lady GaGa – Bad Romance Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| There are all kinds of ways to analyze this song, especially if you view the video. You can see the light/good, when they're wearing white, but they are all blind because their eyes are covered. Then you've got the dark/bad, which is when they are wearing red. They are not blind, they can see clearly. I think it's just a spin-off about the battle between good and evil. Much religious emphasis is put into this song, as well. She is speaking about 'you're a criminal as long as your mine', referencing how religion tricks you into doing things that are downright horrid. There's also a finger pointed towards the Ukrainian king that she dances for, further shaming governments and empires for being hooked on religion as a form of social control. Great lyrics. | |

Thanks for some clarification! The entire song just sounds like a revolt, but it's a 'speculative fiction' of a revolt, obviously ;) Iron curtain definitely referring to the fact that communication and information is halted between the north and south of the 49th Parallel, which includes everything from the west of the US to the east of Europe. Fantastic song! |

| Hollywood Undead – Undead Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| A simple song. They're not really threatening anyone, just irritated that they've worked so hard to produce the music they've made and they're tired of everyone calling them out as just another band that 'made it big' for no reason. They make this extremely obvious when they say "think I just got lucky didn't work for this shit" and "played a million empty shows to only family and friends". They didn't just make it big and grow out of nowhere, they'd been playing for a while and had the shittiest of starts on their way to fame. Good stuff! | |
| Blue October – Dirt Room Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| Oh, and at the end when they say "and now I see you, oh", as in they've never really seen the person who's screwing them over before, but now that they have, the anger becomes violent and vile. | |
| Blue October – Dirt Room Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| I must actually go in a different direction here. I think this song is about internet music piracy, personally. I think that they are expressing the anger about people downloading their songs and then not paying for their albums. Covering you 'with the cover of our albums', in my opinion, signifies that the person burning/selling their music has never even seen the album cover, signifying they've never bought it. Oh well, just an opinion. | |

It's not: "Because its nothing in my mouth except my dick and what I spit," It's: "Because there's nothin' in my life except my dick and what I spit," Here are the actual lyrics, with all corrections: Undead! Undead! Undead! Undead! Undead! You better get up out the way, Tomorrow we'll rise so let's fight today, You know I don't give a fuck what you think or say, 'Cause we gonna rock this whole place anyway. (Undead! ) You better get up out the way, Tomorrow we'll rise so let's fight today, You know I don't give a fuck what you think or say, 'Cause we gonna rock this whole place anyway. Now I see that motherfuckin' writin' on the wall When you see, J-3-T, Thirty deep, he's down to brawl Fuck all haters I see, 'Cause I hate that you breathe, I see you duck, You little punk, You little fucking disease, I got H.U. tatted on the front of my arms, Boulevard, brass knuckles in the back of the car, 'Cause we drunk drive Cadillacs - we never go far, But when you see us, motherfuckers, Better know who we are. I got one thing to say to punk asses who hate, Motherfuckers don't know what, You better watch what you say. From these industry fucks, To these faggot ass punks, You don't know what it takes, To get this motherfucking drunk. I'm already loud, baby, It's a little too late, Johnny's taking heads off of all the faggots who hate, 'Cause I'm like god, motherfucker, there's a price to pay, Yeah, I like god, motherfucker, and it's judgment day! (Undead! ) You better get up out the way, Tomorrow we'll rise so let's fight today, You know I don't give a fuck what you think or say, 'Cause we gonna rock this whole place anyway. (Undead! ) You better get up out the way, Tomorrow we'll rise so let's fight today, You know I don't give a fuck what you think or say, 'Cause we gonna rock this whole place anyway. I'm getting used to this nuisance, And all the fags who bad mouth this music, It's fuckin' stupid and foolish of you to think you can do this, You cowards can't, you never will, don't even try to pursue it. I took the chance, I played the bill, I nearly died for this music. You make me wanna run around pulling my guns out and shit, You're tempting me to run my mouth and call you out on this bitch, How ignorant you gotta be to believe any of this? You need to slit your wrist, get pissed and go jump off a bridge, What? You can't see the sarcasm in the verses I spit? What? You think I just got lucky, didn't work for this shit? Bitch, I've been working at this ever since I was a kid, I played a million empty shows to only family and friends. What kind of person disses a band that deserves to get big? I'd hate to be that person when my verse comes out their kid's lips. That shits as worse as it gets. This verse is over, I quit. Signed Charlie Scene, on your girlfriend's tits. (Undead! ) You better get up out the way, Tomorrow we'll rise so let's fight today, You know I don't give a fuck what you think or say, 'Cause we gonna rock this whole place anyway. (Undead! ) You better get up out the way, Tomorrow we'll rise so let's fight today, You know I don't give a fuck what you think or say, 'Cause we gonna rock this whole place anyway. White boys with tattoos, P-pointing right at you, We are breaking everything, r-rowdy like a classroom, Pack of wolves, 'Cause we don't follow the rules, And when you're running your mouth, Our razor blades come out, (AH! ) Because it's nothing in my life except my dick and what I spit, So my dick is in my hand when I respond to faggots talking shit, Speaking of fags, already wrap in drag, We killed him and then we stuffed his body in the Cadillac. Why you always pressin? You know I'm never stressing, With Loki DMS, J-Johnny to my left, Got Phantom and the rest, Who are down there at the west, I grew up on drive-by's and L.A gang signs, So what the fuck you know about being a gangsta? What the fuck you know about being in danger? You ain't doing this, so you know you're just talking shit. Mad at all of us 'cause every song is a fucking hit. (Undead! ) You better get up out the way, Tomorrow we'll rise so let's fight today, You know I don't give a fuck what you think or say, 'Cause we gonna rock this whole place anyway. Motherfuckin' time to ride, ride (Undead! ) See you duck when we drive by, by (Undead! ) Motherfuckin' time to ride, ride (Undead! ) Won't you punks just die, die (Undead! ) |

| Guns N' Roses – Used to Love Her Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| bugmenot : You are absolutely correct! This song is actually written about Axl's dog, from back in the day. It's sort of funny how many ways this song's meaning can be interpreted. However, in an interview shortly after the album release, from an '88 interview, Axl clearly promotes the idea behind the song as being nothing more than a joke about his dog. Good job remembering that! :) | |

I think this song is about a false prophet, ie: Jesus. From the beginning, he his fake-mesiah spouts out bullshit, or spit, wither's away but before he dies he is buried and remolded into gold, or his words reproduced as wisdom. Everything you do is seen by this false prophet, but unfortunately, it's a rather boring aspect knowing that lies from thousands of years ago are shaking their fists and calling you to repent for something that is never going to happen. Just my two cents. |

I love it, but most of you hit the nail on the head. My favorite part is when they say: We got at 15 years left 'til the United We Stand murals on West Broadway finally fade and we wave good-bye to such sad, childish refrains Replaced with other stupid lullabies like you can have my guns when you pry them from my cold dead hands It's outstanding! They just can't wait until the death-taunting 'United We Stand' phrase, which was coined during the US entering WWII under all sorts of false-propaganda, is erased from mind. But once it does, it'll be replaced by even stupider sayings, like "You can have my guns when you pry them from my cold, dead hands." Fuck the NRA and fuck Charlton Heston! |

| Propagandhi – America’s Army™ (Die Jugend Marschiert) Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
This band is, hands-down, the greatest band to ever emerge from the underground punk scene! So, as follows, here is what I believe the entire song to be: I agree with everyone who said it's about "America's Army", created by the US Military to get kids involved with a video game depicting the 'glory' of war. However, under the surface, this is anything but true! Colonel Casey Wardynski is the director of the U.S. Army’s OEMA (Office of Economic and Manpower Analysis) at the United States Military Academy. He was the project originator/coordinator/founder. He basically created this war machine/tool that is now being used to hook/line/sinker the future generation of children into loving war and sticking it in their heads that in real life, they will get to do exactly what they are doing in the game. Exploiting children early gains them their confidence in the future. If the military can be cool enough to make us this game they must rock! Moving right along through the song, after COL. dick-head is introduced, he surprises the audience by outrageous, Freudian slips. At first, he announces everything in a manner that is pleasing, like all political propaganda, to hear. However, towards the end of the mainstream speech part, he slips and lets everyone know that they've actually help support the war agenda by being so stupid they couldn't see this game for what it really was: a trojan horse to allow the US Military to enter their children's lives. And not only that, the people actually paid for their stupidity outright. Pink is a soft, non-threatening color, so naturally they've chosen it as their prime directive for "background-noise", because on the surface, it's soothing, but underneath it's another trojan horse. So now, everyone is outraged, but it's too fucking late, so the COL. tells them all to, basically, shut the fuck up and just sit back down, because soon they'll all be dead and their children will belong to him. And in the end, the children will only know the glorious propaganda-influenced military community, rather than their relationship to nature and the power of human liberty. OUTSTANDING SONG! |

| Propagandhi – Stick The Fucking Flag Up Your Goddamn Ass, You Sonofabitch Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
Allow me to intersect for a moment, if I may, this entire song is about his failing faith in his government. He's brought up by his father to love and abide by the country and do what they tell you to do. If the country is so fucking free, then he should have the freedom to make the right or wrong choices, without feeling obligated to live by the systems' sanctions and disobedience. Dissection: "My father told me son it's futile to resist, you can topple ideology, but no the army's they enlist. I questioned the intentions of the boy scouts chanting 'war!', that's the sound of freedom, son, he said, free to say no more" - This ENTIRE opening line is his father telling him that, sure, you have the right and duty to question and sterilize your government, but there is no way in hell that you can topple over the military and the mighty brute-force that has been established by large and resistant government. The United States is the definite pun here. With the boyscouts he's merely attempting to explain that at a young age, we are brainwashing CHILDREN that the need for war brings about 'happy' changes; bullshit. This is similar to the Nazi movement in Germany, and definetely is brought up on their later album Potemkin City Limits, song "Die Jugend Marschiert", or the chant for the German children, meaning "Youth on the March". The line "I can burn your fucking flag wherever I damn well please" is simply there to infuriate anyone, but as a badass 'stick it to you' to gain attention to the severity of what is being expressed. You have the right to burn the flag, but why are you ridiculed for doing so? Sure, we've been brought up to believe that it's wrong, but dammit, if the country is so free, then things that are no detrimentle to the survival of our citizen's should NOT be sawed-off and destroyed. Burning the flag is an insult, but you have the freedom to do it. Fuck the troops to hell - This line created a lot of controversey, because some state that it's not the troops fault they are doing what they are doing. Some of them just have nowhere else to go when the system lets them down, middle-class and lower-class are often enlisting in the military to provide themselves with a better life, for a system that hates them. Well, it's the fact that acts of war commit 'murder', and Chris feels that a person killing another person is a murderer, that's why he says "tie a yellow ribbon 'round the oak tree my friend". Why should you tie a yellow ribbon around a tree for someone who murdered thousands of people before he, himself, was destroyed? That's their question, and I'm not touching it. Anyways, GREAT SONG! LOVE PROPAGANDHI! |

| The Killers – Mr. Brightside Lyrics | 18 years ago |

Okay, if I may, I just wanted to toss my two-cents into what this song actually means to me. I believe this song is about a guy who built a special relationship with a girl, felt great about her, found out she's cheating on him and then wants nothing more than to be depressed about it all at first; however, he finally convinces himself that it's not worth it, it's something you live through, and now it's time to move on. A few dissections: "Coming out of my cage..." "gotta gotta be down because I want it all" - I think he finds out what happens to his girl, but now he's so depressed he just WANTS to feel like shit, he wants it all. He wants to feel this way, he just wants it all to feel bad. "It was only a kiss" - His girl kissed another guy, how the hell could she fall for him simply over a kiss? The chorus, when he says "he takes off her dress, let me go", I interpret it as "letting me go". Sorry, that may not be the actual lyrics, but letting me go seems better, as she's letting him go by exploring this new guy, sexually. "just the price I pay, destiny's calling me, open up my eager eyes, cause I'm Mr. Brightside" - Of course, he's expecting to move on, but it still hurts. He is, at this point, trying to convince himself that he doesn't want to hurt, so he's keeping up with the 'bright side' of things, trying to look for the positive in the negative. "I never..." - At the end of the song, you finally realize that he hasn't solved a thing, he still feels for her, and he just can't believe it. Like, the entire song was nothing more than him trying to 'convince' himself that it's time to move on; then he's like "Yes, I will move on, I'm Mr. Brightside", but in the end, he still can't believe what's happened...GREAT SONG! |
