New Friend Lyrics

Mind my own business, I'm on my journey
And I have enough old friends to keep me company
But you say hey what's up, you want to hook up?
You wanna hang out with me?
Kick back, relax, feel happy and lazy

You're sent to me one time
You come to me two times
Why me? three times
Well abracadabra now I've got a new friend

Let me introduce you to my new friend whoa
I've got a new friend
Let me introduce you to my new friend whoa
I've got a new friend

Mind my own business I'm on my journey
I against I on my journey
Happily interrupted extremes are extreme
So with my brand new friend we touch the boundaries

Like a little kitty's whiskers, cautiously
Experimental expressions and downward looks
You come sniff around, I'm not sure what to do
But like a big explosion, magically
Look at me I think I might have found a new friend

Let me introduce you to my new friend whoa
I've got a new friend
Let me introduce you to my new friend whoa
I've got a new friend
Let me introduce you to my new friend whoa
I've got a new friend
Let me introduce you to my new friend whoa
I've got a new friend

(Buccaneer rap)

Mind my own business I'm on my journey (push it)
Mind my own business I'm on my journey (push it)

You're sent to me one time
You come to me two times
Why me? three times
Serial monogamy, I got a new friend

Let me introduce you to my new friend whoa
I've got a new friend (6x)

Mind my own business I'm on my journey
And I have enough old friends to keep me company
But you say hey what's up, you want to hook up?
You wanna hang out with me?
Kick back, relax, feel happy and lazy

In my head
It's only in my head
In my head
it's only in my head
In my head

I think it's about someone who wants to make some old friends jealous by saying she has new friends, but really all these friends are just in her head, as a tool to make people envious.

i dunno to me the new friend represents a new boyfriend kinda like when u get into a relationship when u least expect it 'mind my own business im on my journey' just the whole 'you want to hook up' part n the second verse makes it sound more like a relationship to me n she also says serial monogomy

i partially agree with cellophanegirl. i think it's about someone who wants to make their old friends jealous by showing off they're new friends. but why do you think that she made the new friends up? just curious... they could be real, couldn't they?

Yeah, the serial monogamy part is important in my mind. She says to serial monogamy, "I've got a new friend". I think this song is honestly about being a little bit of a skank and hooking up with strangers, making them new "friends". Maybve it's that feeling when you meet someone who you just fall for. You'd do anything. In the end, she finds that she wants more than just a hook up, so her attitude is all just in her head.

Every website in google has the lyrics wrong. It's irritating, they all just copy incorrect lyrics from each other.

They're not even showing here.

I'm pretty sure it s "brand new friend, we TEST the boundaries" instead of "touch the boundaries". Many sites say "I enough old friends". Many sites say "To say 'Hey what's up?'" on the first mention instead of "But you say"

In regards to the above comments, maybe a look at the "old words" will shed some insight. This is from an acoustic recording in Jamaica long before the studio version was released. Some parts are interrupted and the the lyrics are unknown.

I've got a boyfriend, he's in love with me But he can't give up London, so most nights I'm free

So ____, somebody told me I'll be your girlfriend ____ You sent to me one time You come to me two times Why me? Three times Well Abracadabra now I've got a new friend!

Let me introduce you to my new friend, whoa, I've got a new friend Let me introduce you to my new friend, whoa, I've got a new friend

I've got a boyfriend, he's in love with me.

During this, she introduced Gavin to the camera and they talked for a bit. So I would guess that the new friend is hey boyfriend, who is at a distance and so she still has to introduce him to people since he's not there all the time. It also does sound like she's bragging/expressing how excited she is about the new friend. I don't think it's about jealousy. And I don't think the "hook up" used here is referring to a booty call as the following lyrics explain.

I couldn't find the Buccaneer rap anywhere. The only part I know is "good friendship, like all bees, make honey"
