Maybe trying to get inside the head of Derrick Plourde moments/ days before his death... dunno... this whole album makes me feel sad. I cant help thinking of the waste of talent the day it all went down. :(

ooh i kind of like this song. never heard of this band before, but i just purevolumed them. Anyway, i think this song is just about the way that people compromise themselves so they can be viewed favorably by soicety. The whole automatic theme is talking about becoming unfeeling, so that it just comes naturally when you have to break down and replace pieces of who you are
tical2k hit it, someone in grips of depression is looking at life and seeing that nothing they do is different from anyone else. "Same cars, same clothes, same desires, same woes" means that everyone around is living the same life with the same aspirations which basically equate to nothing in the end. Great song, damned shame anyone should ever feel this way about life.
Its just as you all say. Joey tries to go deep into Derrick's mind and find how he felt with his depression ruining his mind over and over. Creepy talks about something similar, and the whole LP turns around these kind of stuff. Pretty cool and sad at the same time for people with depression and suicidal tendencies, makes you wonder if anything is worth it.
