Time Runs Out Lyrics
I didn't lose you
In those fights i fought
I don't owe anyone
I've been sleeping all night
These times i recall
They come out
They come clean
I've been asleep
On top of myself
I was born in the morning
I died at night
I was found in a mirror baby
They couldn't get me out
In these times time runs out
It runs out
Daydreams run along her
Feelings are goners
I've been sleeping
Once and for all
Mirrors are water
A symbol of what death is not
Catch my meaning
Once and for all
I'm the ceiling
I'm the wall
You can't stand inside with me
But the reverse of me is where you must be
In truths place is lies
The mistakes you try
Someone must be sleeping because all is quiet
Is there nothing in the mirror when you shut the light
The dark
The light
The dark
The light
In those fights i fought
I don't owe anyone
I've been sleeping all night
These times i recall
They come out
They come clean
I've been asleep
On top of myself
I was born in the morning
I died at night
I was found in a mirror baby
They couldn't get me out
In these times time runs out
It runs out
Daydreams run along her
Feelings are goners
I've been sleeping
Once and for all
Mirrors are water
A symbol of what death is not
Catch my meaning
Once and for all
I'm the ceiling
I'm the wall
You can't stand inside with me
But the reverse of me is where you must be
In truths place is lies
The mistakes you try
Someone must be sleeping because all is quiet
Is there nothing in the mirror when you shut the light
The dark
The light

Anyone ever noticed the similarity between the part at 1:25 of "Time Runs Out" and the end of "Dissolve" (from the "DC EP") at approx 2:50?
It seems to have a lot to do with sleep, he brings it up many times, the outro, daydreams, i've been sleeping all night, i've been sleeping once and for all... That's all I can get out of it.
onetimeuser.. he has made many songs, there are obviously going to be a few similarities between some of them, they can't all be completely different.
its one of those "you may have dumped me, but i win out in the end" songs. the sleep may have something to do with the clouded mindset you feel like youre in when you look back on a bad relationship.
I think it’s about the fallout of emotions close to the end of a relationship / a recent break up.
The jist of it is:
“I didn't lose you In those fights i fought I don't owe anyone
I've been sleeping all night” Is like a power statement, to justify to her and the world that he is still strong despite what’s happened (but really he’s not).
“I was born in the morning I died at night”
He’s strong during the day but he breaks down at night thinking about his what’s happened.
“I was found in a mirror baby They couldn't get me out In these times time runs out It runs out”
He’s saying to her that he knows he is a lost cause and that he found it difficult to express how he truly felt about her during the relationship.
"Daydreams run along her Feelings are goners I've been sleeping”
Now that it’s over he’s moved on but he thinks about her, sometimes he dreams about her.
“Catch my meaning Once and for all I'm the ceiling I'm the wall You can't stand inside with me But the reverse of me is where you must be In truths place is lies The mistakes you try”
He’s trying to say he feels trapped in who he is / depressed and he knows that if she was to be with him she would still be unhappy as she has tried in the past.
“Someone must be sleeping because all is quiet Is there nothing in the mirror when you shut the light The dark The light The dark The light”
He’s saying that without her he has nothing.
"He’s strong during the day but he breaks down at night thinking about his what’s happened"
I feel like this song goes so much further with this theme. Compare the mood at the beginning of the song with that at the end. It's light, happy, and upbeat, but somewhere in between, the mood shifts to that of internal conflict, and at the end of the song, of a man who's broken/ depressed.
