Isabelle Lyrics

Now it's just you two
in a world of poems and paintings,
I guess this means I'm through,
it also means I'm breaking,
But Isabelle what can I do
if I'm caught in him, this man you love?
And Isabelle what can I do
if his strong hands make it hard to shove him away?

And I know it's hard
to picture it up here,
in your tobacco strewn backyard.
And it is kinda toilsome to keep an eye on him;
just look what he's done so far.

But Isabelle what can I do?
The last thing I need is to end up askew,
and Isabelle what can I do?
The prophets make it difficult,
Isabelle what can I do
in the few weeks time you're out of sight?
And Isabelle what can I do
just because it feels alright?

And the ground is already hard
where its been dug in,
I've gone this way too many times,
And the pit keeps going deeper,
but I'm not turning back,
so Isabelle try to understand

I know just what to say,
but it's incorrect to say it,
How do I break it to him?
The death of one is staying,
And all I think of now
is a way to get under and a way to get out,
So Isabelle what can I do
with the naive pain it's causing you?

she says TOILSOME not TIRESOME in the song.

Song explains itself but.. "if his strong hands make it hard to shove him away?"

yeah, a few things are wrong; prophets=profits (man, Nostradumas is making everything so difficult!), knife=naive. I don't get the song too well, though. I mean, obviously the narrator is stealing Isabelle's man. But aside from that, nothing about the people in the song is clear--we don't even know if Isabelle and the guy are married, or she just loves him, or what. My guess: Isabelle is married to the guy and they're both a lot older than the narrator. Isabelle just stays at home most of the time and doesn't understand "the ways of the world," and she's shocked and upset that her husband, who travels a lot, cheats on her. Wow, I guess I do get it.

the part that it says "the prophets make it difficult..." suggests that they were married. and that she WOULD divorce him so isabelle can have him.. but it would be against whats "right". does that make sense?

what i like most about this song is how she shifts her voice so much. the girl's got talent.

I think it's naive pain, not knife pain.
