He's saying we need to see what's going on around us and step out of our comfort zones to help others. We need to get rid of monotony or we'll end up regretting it later. In that case, I should probably get off the computer...
I agree, but would also like to add that I believe that they are advising others to take up the cause of empathy. Think very carefully about how you would feel if you were another, and try to treat everybody as well as you can. In Dante's Inferno, Dante has pity for many of the sinners as he walks through Hell. People should be kind to eachother on Earth too.

What I got from this song in a few of the lines was that its talking about violence is a world-wide problem because people have grown cold.. From school shootings, to murdering kids, to everything that has gone corrupt!

That entire section, I think, is about to start listening to what is going on and try to lend a hand to help others.. I dont know, Because when I was reading these lyrics, I was thinking about school shootings.. Your little suburbia is in ruins, All of the school shootings seem to take place in the suburbs, and people going crazy and killing people.. People dont want to wake up and realize that those kinds of things can happen.. Just because they live in a safe and dandy neighborhood doesnt mean that evil cant be prevelant.. Ahh, Just my two sense..

I think he is saying don't assume that when you decide to preach about god, don't make any assumptions that your world will come crashing down. The feeling that they are talking about is reffered to the one that kills your bond with the devil.
I agree with most of the interpretations here. Step out of your comfort zone = "break the chains". "Worthy kings have broken backs for nothing" people think they are doing the right thing but they aren't. " They didn't die from the cold without but they died from the cold within" talking about your soul. "Sometimes the best feelings may be the one that kills" be wary of immediate satisfaction. Don't always choose the easy path. That's how you are led astray.
