Fully Alive Lyrics
Telling Layla's story spoken
'Bout how all her bones are broken
Hammers fall on all the pieces
Two months in the cover creases
Here she stands today
In her brilliant shining way
Fully alive
More than most, ready to smile, and love life
Fully alive
More than most, ready to smile, and love life
All my complaints shrink to nothing
I'm ashamed of all my somethings
She's glad for one day of comfort
Only because she has suffered
Here she stands today
In her brilliant shining way
Stronger than her pain
In her brilliant shining way
Fully alive
More than most, ready to smile, and love life
Fully alive
More than most, ready to smile, and love life
Fully alive
More than most, ready to smile, and love life
Fully alive
More than most, ready to smile, and love life
Fully alive
More than most, ready to smile, and love life
Fully alive
More than most, ready to smile, and love life
'Bout how all her bones are broken
Hammers fall on all the pieces
Two months in the cover creases
In her brilliant shining way
More than most, ready to smile, and love life
Fully alive
More than most, ready to smile, and love life
I'm ashamed of all my somethings
She's glad for one day of comfort
Only because she has suffered
In her brilliant shining way
Stronger than her pain
In her brilliant shining way
More than most, ready to smile, and love life
Fully alive
More than most, ready to smile, and love life
More than most, ready to smile, and love life
Fully alive
More than most, ready to smile, and love life
More than most, ready to smile, and love life
Fully alive
More than most, ready to smile, and love life

This song is about the wife of the lead singer to Trust Company. (Flyleaf toured with them at some point.) Layla, his wife, had a disease that kept her in bed for long periods of time, and when she was out of bed, she was so happy..just for that. She was so happy about something that we take for granted everyday. -Lacey said something like that in an interview.
do you by any chance know where/what the interview was?

What I get out of it is a that a girl overcame hardships in her life, and is now living life better than most people. she appreciates her life. i can relate.
@depthbeyondshallow also could be interpreted as that others have "hard" lives too ... sometimes we don't know how lucky we are (reminds me of the term nowadays "first world troubles")

Fully Alive," which Flyleaf wrote in an hour — "It wasn't a toiling song," Seals said — is inspired by former Trust Company singer Kevin Palmer's wife, Layla, who is now in the band Amity Lane with Kevin.
"She was faced with something pretty adverse, and she still found strength to be happy and be uplifted and full of life in the face of that," Seals said, choosing not to elaborate. "It was just a really powerful thing. I guess, kind of through that, the statement of the song is just enjoy what you have. You know, don't take it for granted. And be thankful for just being alive."
that's from mtv
LOVE THIS SONG!!!! It's definitly about living life to the fullest and not to take things for granted. I was gonna say this was about a girl who tried to commit suicide but after failing to do so she realized what a great gift she had and got over her hardships and is now ready to be fully alive and love life and "Now she knows how to believe in futures"
I believe this song is about a girl who has been through so much, yet she acts fully alive. It's very inspirational.
Oh i think the other version is better the one thats not on the cd cause there she sings : Here she stands today, in her brilliant shiny way(not sure though) Anywho I think its about a girl and she's bin trough so much.
'Bout how all her bones are broken Hammers fall on all the pieces
Shes really crushed!
All my complaints shrink to nothing I'm ashamed of all my somethings
I think the writer is saying. My problems are nothing compared to her why am i complaning!? I think the message of the song could be just take the best out life. Cause now she is fully alive and ready to smile and love. So she got over her problems and take the best out of life now.
Yeah, there's two versions to this song. The one without the prechorous is better, though. By the way, why is this their only good song? They have such sweet riffs and she has an awesome voice but their other songs absolutely bite.
this song, believe it or not, is about lacey herself. when it say's "all her bones are broken" she means spiritually! she was an atheist until her grandmother took her to church.
