Take Me In Lyrics

Take me past the outer courts
Into the holy place
Past the brazen altar
Lord I want to see your face
Pass me by the crowds of people
The priests who sing your praise
I hunger and thirst for your righteousness
But it's only found one place

Take me into the holy of holies
Take me in by the blood of the lamb
Take me into the holy of holies
Take the coal, touch my lips, here I am

Take me past the outer courts
Into the holy place
Past the brazen altar
Lord I want to see your face
Pass me by the crowds of people
The priests who sing your praise
I hunger and thirst for your righteousness
And it's only found one place

Take me into the holy of holies
Take me in by the blood of the lamb
Take me into the holy of holies
Take the coal, touch my lips, here I am

Take me past the outer courts
Into the holy place
Past the brazen altar
Lord I want to see your face
Pass me by the crowds of people
The priests who sing your praise
I hunger and thirst for your righteousness
And it's only found one place

Take me into the holy of holies
Take me in by the blood of the lamb
Take me into the holy of holies
Take the coal, touch my lips, here I am

Take me into the holy of holies
Take me in by the blood of the lamb
Take me into the holy of holies
Take the coal, touch my lips, here I am
Take the coal, touch my lips, here I am

This is indeed a great song.

simtech113, the reference to the coal touching the lips is from Isaiah 6:5-7

""Woe to me!" I cried. "I am ruined! For I am a man of unclean lips, and I live among a people of unclean lips, and my eyes have seen the King, the LORD Almighty." 6 Then one of the seraphs flew to me with a live coal in his hand, which he had taken with tongs from the altar. 7 With it he touched my mouth and said, "See, this has touched your lips; your guilt is taken away and your sin atoned for."

Amen man very well said

Thankyou, I was also wondering what it meant :)

Originally, this was a Petra song, I believe. (You know... Petra; old school Christian Rock... before there ever was Christian Rock. LoL) I love the whole idea of the song, when he says "Take me past the outer courts into the holy place." We don't have to worship God from a distance. We can worship God up close and personal, because He is an up close and personal God. In Hebrews, it says that Jesus isn't a priest that can't be touched by our problems, meaning, in other words, that He's a God that cares and wants to be close to you...

Actually I think it was a Hymn originally.

This song is one of a number that my band is considering a cover on. I believe the song is saying we don't need to be afraid of God, and worship him from far away. "take me past the courts." That's saying that we should follow God where he leads us, and we will worship Him where ever he may lead.

In the chorus, it's not hunt and thirst, it's hunger and thirst. "The Preists who sing your praise, I hunger and thirst for your righteousness."
