In Like A Lion (Always Winter) Lyrics
It's always nice to look out the window
And see those very first few flakes of snow
And later on we can go outside
And create the impression of an angel that fell from the sky
When February rolss around I'll roll my eyes
Turn a cold shoulder to these even colder skies
And by the fire my heart it heaves a sigh
For the green grass waiting on the other side
It's always winter but never Christmas
It seems this curse just can't be lifted
Yet in the midst of all this ice and snow
Our hearts stay warm cause they are filled with hope
It'd be so nice to look out the window
And see the leaves on the trees begin to show
The birds would congregate and things
A song of birth a song of newer things
The wind would calm and the sun would shine
I'd go outside and I'd squint my eyes
But for now I will simply just withdraw
Sit here and wish for this world to thaw
It's always winter but never Christmas
It seems this curse just can't be lifted
Yet in the midst of all this ice and snow
Our hearts stay warm cause they are filled with hope
And everything it changed overnight
This dying world you brought it back to life
And deep inside I felt things
Shifting everything was melting
Away oh away
And you gave us the most beautiful of days
Cause when it's always winter but never Christmas
Sometimes it feels like you're not with us
But deep inside our hearts we know
That you are here and we will not lose hope
And see those very first few flakes of snow
And later on we can go outside
And create the impression of an angel that fell from the sky
When February rolss around I'll roll my eyes
Turn a cold shoulder to these even colder skies
And by the fire my heart it heaves a sigh
For the green grass waiting on the other side
It seems this curse just can't be lifted
Yet in the midst of all this ice and snow
Our hearts stay warm cause they are filled with hope
And see the leaves on the trees begin to show

A song of birth a song of newer things
The wind would calm and the sun would shine

But for now I will simply just withdraw

Yet in the midst of all this ice and snow

im not surprized matty t wrote a song about this
because some people (maybe matty t included) think that C.S. lewis (whom wrote the book) used the book as a metaphor as jesus and the people waiting for a saivor and what not. and the movie came out then, and he released it then knowing people would know what hes talking about.. plus ive read the book ^_^ molly o
The book was written to be an anology of Christ's death and resurection. C.S. Lewis is my favorite author, love all his books. (or. at least all the ones I've read)

I'm suprised there aren't any comments on here already, this is my favorite relient k song to date. Anyways, i belive the song is written about "The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe", most likely in light of the release of the movie. "Always winter but never chirstmas" is a direct quote from the movie, and possibly from the book as well. The verses refer to how the arrival of the kings and queens of narnia helped restore hope to the inhabitants of the land, helping to break the witch's curse of everlasting winter. "In like a lion", refers to aslan.
If you havn't read the book, i strongly reccomend. If you're too lazy to read, see the movie, its not too bad either
in this song, matt thiessen draws a parallel line between the creatures of narnia, and the Christians in this world. they were waiting for their king to come and lift the curse. as Christians, we await the return of Christ. this is such a beautiful song, 'tis my favorite for the moment.
hahahah umm to vapor157: this song is INSPIRED BY "The Lion, The With and The Wardrobe" haha look at the cd sleeve
ratm: this is not from the inspired by narnia CD, I have it and it is not on there (though I was hoping it would be, had to buy the song from iTunes). This song is from the Apathetic EP.
At any rate, it is a great song, parallels are drawn between the chronicles of narnia and the meaning behind the story. Musically, it's very well written and executed, my favorite song for the moment (though it will probably fade into normality in a couple of weeks)
The reason it's not on the soundtrack is because they didn't complete the song in time. They missed the deadline. I thought the song was kind of dumb at first because i didn't get the quotes because i hadn't read The Lion The Witch and the Wardrobe. Great book, great song. I love the bridge.
Still a great song. At first i thought it was okay but now I really like and I just saw Narnia. And this song is really about the story
haha the first time i heard this i thought about the crappy ohio weather... since Relient K is, or at least both Matts idk about the other kick butt rockers, are from Canton and winter here sucks and its ugly. which isnt what this song was about but it made me think of that ... just felt like sharing for no reason... im a dork like that haha.
This used to be my favorite song by Relient k, but then they came out with Deathbed. Now that's my favorite song...
i love this song and i actually didn't know it was about narnia till i read this page, but now i love it even more. how in the movie life sucked until aslan came and he brought father christmas back etc.
everything was melting away and you gave us the most beautiful of days...
my fave part.
