Bad Skin Day Lyrics
When I wake in the morning
Of a bad skin day
And I can't face my lover
On a bad skin day
Am I this alone?
Volcano has erupted
And the ash sails down
And I'm a poor soul of Pompeii
Oh Christ I'm such a drama queen
On a bad skin day
And you're far from me
You're all far from me
Right where I want you to be
Far from me
I could've got a job
I could've been a contender, when I never…
Cause the streak is only so long
They're all different shades
Of the same song
There's a wind in these sails, feels like we're always waiting..
For the gold in them there hills, feels like we're never leading..
Them there hills
And they're far from me
Someday we'll all wear a crown
Far from me
Someday we'll be the fairest of them all
So far from me
Someday we'll have an
Open top bus parade
Far from me
Someday we'll do the
Whole sorry charade
It feels like we're always waiting
It feels like we're never leading
Of a bad skin day
And I can't face my lover
On a bad skin day
Am I this alone?
Volcano has erupted
And the ash sails down
And I'm a poor soul of Pompeii
Oh Christ I'm such a drama queen
On a bad skin day
You're all far from me
Right where I want you to be
Far from me

i think this song is about reaching for your own goals but keep thinking you will never get it and everything is going wrong for you...but when you think about it you make your own luck and if you try hard enough you get what you want
beautiful song. seen these guys 3 times in london now and they're really good live. paul noonan is very charismatic.
i believe this song means that everyone should have that certain day of their life where everyone should share within the glory (and just be happy for everyone, including themselves). And he feels bad about himself sometimes and feels the worst days of life are ones that stick, where he wants to be apart from the parade. And thats when he wants to be far apart from the things he loves, though in this state of mind most desires; glory , and is shy of because of the deep desire to relish within. He wants to give and share his glory though and feels he is drowned within it because glory seems to separate people instead unite people. Guess its just life. Glory = fame, admiration, and honour that is given to somebody who does something important..... Therefore = separation, the act or process of separating things or people.
I believe that this song means that a bad skin day could be the best day of someone else life, and this is the life we should be celebrating to the most possible extent. Not drowning in a sea of love, that runs the shore with disaster. Take the news for example.
I really can't get over the shear amazingness of this song. It is absolutely wonderful.
The bad skin day is a day when nothing just feels right, and you just let yourself get completely wrapped around that fact to the point where you're convinced that nobody has ever felt this bad before ("I'm a poor soul of Pompeii"). Then reality kinda strikes and he realizes how melodramatic he's being ("Oh Christ I'm such a drama queen"). But he still wants to keep people at a distance so they don't see him like this. I know I get this way when I feel like I'm not working towards something, or contributing in some way ("It feels like we're always waiting. It feels like we're never leading"). I just sit around, not really knowing what to do, just waiting and keep doing the same thing in hopes that something will change or I'll figure out what to do/where to go next in life. When that day happens it'll all be better ("Someday we'll all wear a crown")
KrazyKapnKarl-- I agree with u . I feel its completely about him being a little depressed initially and later ( we'll have our open bus parade) he is more optimistic . At some point though i feel he's being a little cynical in the end.I dont sense a complete clean optimism in his words where he says we'll all wear the crown. It almost like maybe hes given up but speaking of the last shot half heaterdly
