I would first like to say that In The Wake Of Determination is freakin awesome! And SOTY is awesome live! I think this song is about drugs and alcohol. How when people are depressed, that's what they turn to to try to feel better, but in reality it just makes us more depressed("breakdown the moment it touches your mouth"). I can relate to this song because alcohol was what I turned to. I found that it made me even worse and I've stopped drinking until I know I'm better.
I agree with SoCalkid this song is about drugs and alcohol and how taking them thinking that they can help with the problems you face each day when they really don't and they make you worse then you were already! this song is amazing and all there songs on the cd In the wake of determination rock!
I agree that this song's about drugs and alcohol, this song has gotta be the best off the In The Wake Of Determination album, and the solo in it is just amazing. I can't wait to see these lives, just two days now. =]
I agree, song is about addiction (Dan says so in the song notes) and i know how that feels, because i also turned to alcohol, still do, know i shouldnt and am trying to stop. everytime i hear this song it makes me want to not drink.
I think its about a friendship that has gone very bad and they both feel resentment to each other. He's asking if anyone can taste the poison that they need because he feels like theres no more hope and that suicide is the one way out.
