I think this song is about drugs and alcohol. How when people are depressed, that's what they turn to to try to feel better, but in reality it just makes us more depressed("breakdown the moment it touches your mouth").
I can relate to this song because alcohol was what I turned to. I found that it made me even worse and I've stopped drinking until I know I'm better.
