What I thought wasn't mine
In the light
Was one of a kind,
A precious pearl
When I wanted to cry
I couldn't cause I
Wasn't allowed
Gomen nasai for everything
Gomen nasai, I know I let you down
Gomen nasai till the end
I never needed a friend
Like I do now
What I thought wasn't all
So innocent
Was a delicate doll
Of porcelain
When I wanted to call you
And ask you for help
I stopped myself
Gomen nasai for everything
Gomen nasai, I know I let you down
Gomen nasai till the end
I never needed a friend
Like I do now
What I thought was a dream
A mirage
Was as real as it seemed
A privilege
When I wanted to tell you
I made a mistake
I walked away
Gomen nasai, for everything
Gomen nasai, Gomen nasai,
I never needed a friend,
Like I do now
Gomen nasai, I let you down
Gomen nasai, Gomen nasai,
Gomen nasai till the end
I never needed a friend
Like I do now
In the light
Was one of a kind,
A precious pearl
I couldn't cause I
Wasn't allowed
Gomen nasai, I know I let you down
Gomen nasai till the end
I never needed a friend
Like I do now
So innocent
Was a delicate doll
Of porcelain
And ask you for help
I stopped myself
Gomen nasai, I know I let you down
Gomen nasai till the end
I never needed a friend
Like I do now
A mirage
Was as real as it seemed
A privilege
I made a mistake
I walked away
Gomen nasai, Gomen nasai,
I never needed a friend,
Like I do now
Gomen nasai, Gomen nasai,
Gomen nasai till the end
I never needed a friend
Like I do now

This song is actually about Yulia's 2003 abortion, which was after her manager very much guilt-tripped at her for not following the band's image of being lesbian. He was not quoted on this, but it's been known that he said something along the lines of it. It's mainly about how she regrets doing this to her baby. It's about how she didn't think, being so young, about the value her baby would later have to her. The name, Gomenasai (correct Japanese would be "Gomen Nasai" or "Very Sorry"), came from t.A.T.u.'s trip to Japan, which they ended early so Yulia could come back and get her abortion. This is like an apology to her unborn child. She only wants to let the world she's sorry for her mistake.
@iluvlupedog wow. Love this song, sounds so beautiful. Love this description, so deep.

Great song. "Flipsyde" used the melody and some of the verses for his song "happy Birthday" I'm not a hip-hop fan, but i looove the remake. check it out. its soo touching.
how did t.a.t.u. offend them?
it's nothing to do with them offending the Japanese...
This is in the newer album and is after the first album where they have basicly fallen out...
Listen to the songs in order... they tell a story
It's just an apology to a loved one. Sorry for all of the things I did wrong, please forgive me, I really need you. It's pretty.
Can somebody tell me what does "Gomenasai" mean? Is that it? An apologie?
moprons, jojiojo this is funny!!!!!!!!!!!!!!....(My sister wrote this one)
Gomenasai means "sorry" in Japanese!
We know this means sorry in Japanese- it's also indicated in Madge's Sorry. I love this song. It's very fragile. I think is an equal to t.A.T.u's other songs. Any other thoughts?
I've always thought this song was about getting into an argument with somebody really close to you, and you realize you were the one who was wrong. Lines like "What I thought wasn't all so innocent / Was a delicate doll of porcelain" made me think that the singer believed someone was wrong or bad for something, then realized that it wasn't true. And the "I never needed a friend / Like I do now" sounds like the singer wants that person back in their life. Hence the apologizing by the Japanese word "gomenasai," meaning "sorry." That's just what I get out of it though.
One of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard...
The only thing I don't understand, why gomenasai, and not pros`tite? Aren't they Russian?
