Shut up and listen, and come out of the cold.
I'll awake this sleeping dragon now and I'll probably ask for directions - ya never know.
Take a left at the pass. Take another left past the lake. Don't forget, read the signs.
Credible your witness. Can I take a stab at your cake? Kiss the scene goodbye.
I guess you know. I guess I heard. I guess I know you hurt.
I guess I know, unless I hurt. But this is just a guess.
I will scream your name, as I breakout in time.
I will be the same, still the man of many lines.
Shut up and listen, and come out of the cold.
Time away has simply left me down so I'll promptly ask for affection - ya never know.
Dream your name, ‘til I break down and die.
I will be the same, still the man of many lies.
Still the man of many lines ... Still the man of many lies.
Goodbye.
I guess you know. I guess I heard. I guess I know you hurt.
I guess I know, unless I hurt. But this is just a guess.
I will scream your name, as I breakout in time.
I will be the same, still the man of many lines.
I will dream your name, ‘til I break down and die.
I will be the same, still the man of many lies

no matter what happens, 'the man' will still be the same - he can't change the way a girl wants him to?

not really sure about this one

Not sure what the song means, but I truly love it. It's my second favourite song by Gyroscope.. Number one being 'Sexxxy'. But this song is awsome, makes me cry.

maybe someone returning from a long absence, could be jail or war or bloody anything. but my impression is someone returning from somewhere still the same, and everything has changed.

well most of the songs on the album are related to a murder. I think him coming otu of jail is spot on.

"I'll probably ask for directions - ya never know. Take a left at the pass. Take another left past the lake. Don’t forget, read the signs." Getting directions because he's forgotten where to go

" I guess I know you hurt." She hurts because he was in jail

"I will be the same, still the man of many lies." He wants her back but knows he hasn't changed

"Time away has simply left me down so I'll promptly ask for affection" He's been away for her so long he needs her again

i think it also could be he's only dreaming it. or perhaps the fact that they can be together after being away for so long is his dream - and it can't be a reality?

I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988. "'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it." "There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."
