I hear, this song is about the "Da Vinci Code". He made a reference to it in one of his concerts in October.

I have listened to this beautiful song MANY times over the years, and it just got to me that "Your Heart under the rose" COULD mean that she is dead. I mean as in a funeral where people put roses on the dead person's chest.
Am I wrong? Somehow I don't want this interpretation to be true... And why would "she" be dead anyway?
Anyway, I also think that "I've been burning in Water and drowned in flames" could mean that he has been doing the wrong Things for "her" and their relationship. Because normally you would walk through fire and Water for her, and to burn in Water and drown in flames is the wrong thing to do (and also impossible).
This is just the way I interpret it, so tell me what you think! :)
