Last Cigarette Lyrics
Regrets are all you left on your lipstick stains
Take a picture of our past there in that ashtray
We had our fun, I used to light your flame
Like the dancing smoke that rose we tried to find our way
No one told me, she told me
Your love's like one last cigarette
Last cigarette, I will savor it
The last cigarette
Take it in and hold your breath, hope it never ends
But when it's gone, it's gone
The last cigarette
Just to breathe reminds me of what used to be
The smoke's the ghost that keeps you close when I can't sleep
Don't ask the past to last; it's about to change
The memories don't answer when I call your name
No one told me, she told me
Your love's like one last cigarette
Last cigarette, I will savor it
The last cigarette
Take it in and hold your breath, hope it never ends
But when it's gone, it's gone
One last cigarette, last cigarette
One I can't forget, the last cigarette
Right there at my fingertips, I got your taste still on my lips
Right or wrong
You're still gone, gone, gone
The last cigarette
No one told me, she told me
You always lose the girl in a Brian Wilson world
Your love's like one last cigarette
Last cigarette, I will savor it
The last cigarette
Take it in and hold your breath, hope it never ends
But when it's gone, it's gone
One last cigarette, last cigarette
One I can't forget, the last cigarette
Right there at my fingertips, I got your taste still on my lips
Right or wrong
You're still gone, gone, gone

He's dangerously addictied to a girl, he realizes he must givie up a love he held dear because he knows its killing him and that she holds too much power over him. He is comming to the decision to cut her loose, but never to regret.
this song has a great feel to it, its a rockin' track. about a lost love maybe?
definitely a lost love. a loev that will forever be cherished. but i believe, it's a painful break up
I love this song.
"Your loves like one last cigarrette." The relationship is bad for him, but he has to have that last night together. He'll cherish it, savor it, but he knows it has to be his last hurrah. And it probably won't be.
Brian Wilson was the lead singer of the Beach Boys
So Brian Wilson was the lead singer of the Beach Boys... what does the line mean? I've been trying but I can't figure it out. I'm too young to have really listened to the Beach Boys, so I don't know if it's a reference to one of their songs.
Anyone?
Brian Wilson was more the co-lead signer of the Beach Boys, with Mike Love being the primary lead singer. I feel that line describes the "world" that Brian Wilson created in his most melancholy music. If you listen to some of his more emotional provoking music you'll find a timid world of love, lost, and regret. So, when you're "operating" in that world, you'll bound to lose the girl because you can never have the courage to get the girl.

It's prominent on the second half of the "Today!" album, "Summer Days", "Pet Sounds", and in some of his demos from the late 70s and mid 80s.
Who's Brian Wilson??? I've been pondering over it since I got the album, which was about 8 months ago...
