Hooligans on E Lyrics
Hooligans on E
Meat pies and burberry
And aquascutum
If you're lucky
Hooligans on E
Discussing symmetry
Said I'd like you, can I join your gang?
Going home in a London ambulance
Going home in a cosmic ambience
Hooligans on E
His soul, his soul walks on water
Hooligans on E
Dancing all day
I like you, can I join your gang?
No, we don't carry coal
And no, we don't carry lead
We only carry hatchets
To bury in your head
No, we don't carry coal
And no, we don't carry lead
We only carry melodies
To bury in your heart and in your head
Meat pies and burberry
And aquascutum
If you're lucky
Discussing symmetry
Said I'd like you, can I join your gang?
Going home in a London ambulance
Going home in a cosmic ambience
His soul, his soul walks on water
Hooligans on E
Dancing all day
I like you, can I join your gang?
And no, we don't carry lead
We only carry hatchets
To bury in your head
And no, we don't carry lead
We only carry melodies
To bury in your heart and in your head

This is my favourite Libertine's song, mainly because of the history with Lisa Moorish of Kill City. It's infinitely better than the Kill City version, and far better than the Baby Shambles version (From the Sailor Sessions). Does anyone know what album this is from, if any? Supposedly, this song was written by Lisa Moorish, and co written by Peter Doherty and Pete Jones, but I think this is the Peter Doherty version, they lyrics are far better in this than in Kill City's
It was written by the three of them. I like Lisa moorish shes quite rad:)
it is f_cking beautiful!!!!!!, is there a CD version?
I don't have the book to hand, but in one of The numerous Libertines biography's there is a quote from Pete about this song. If I remember correctly, he wrote it himself after attending a Cardiff (or possibly Swansea) footy match in Wales at which the local mob were popping E's after E's instead of getting beered up. There's numerous references to football violence culture of course...
This song's about Carl being a woman.
