You were the one
That I couldn't find
Hidden away
In the ups of my mind

Why did I let you go
You're to good to be true
I messed it up and now I don't know what to do
We ran in circles and wasted time
From right to wrong
From right to wrong

If I knew that you were mine
I wouldn't have wasted time
I wish I could erase the past
Now its all collapsed
In my lap

I over thought
So I locked up my heart yeah
There you stood
You're blue eyes hidden underneath your hurt

Why did I let you go
You're to good to be true
I messed it up and now I don't know what to do
We ran in circles and wasted time
From right to wrong
From right to wrong

If I knew that you were mine
I wouldn't have wasted time
I wish I could erase the past
Now its all collapsed
In my lap

My mind is blank just like a deep sleep
With a meeting with a guy with the same blue eyes
And the same name with a colored shoe
I can't believe they have the same hat with my old mate
Then I will make another mistake
And think that he's just another fake

Wish I could erase the past
Wish I could bring you back

If I knew that you were mine
I wouldn't have wasted time
I wish I could erase the past
Now its all collapsed
In my lap

If I knew that you were mine
I wouldn't have wasted time
I wish I could erase the past
Now its all collapsed
In my lap

I really like it! This song means that there was a girl who had this friend as a boy, and he liked her. But the girl never noticed and one day felt the same but it was too late. Now everthing has "collapsed." very cute! i feel this way right now tho....TT.TT

Ok, from my mind is blank to I think that hes just another fake, does anyone really know that part besides Aly & AJ themselves. I have seen so many different versions to that part. So of course I listened to it myself and it sounded like mostly all of them. Maybe someone should email them about that???

"My mind is blank just like a clean slate. Will I meet another guy with the same blue eyes? And the same name with the converse shoes I gave? Will he have the same laugh? Wear my home-made hat? I'll make another mistake, and think he's just another fake."

That's the correct lyrics for that part.

Basically, this girl liked a boy but was too afraid to admit to him. She was wasting time just sitting around and not doing anything about her feelings for him, afraid to get rejected or lose their friendship they already had. However, little did she know that he liked her as well, and he told her this but it was probably too late... maybe he got a girlfriend or moved on from her or something, and now everything has been thrown back at her and it's "collapsed in her lap"... the friendship isn't working out now, it has collapsed and she feels like it's because of her. She wonders if she will ever find someone similar to him, but she realizes once she finds someone that is kind of like him that he is a fake... he isn't the real deal... he isn't the guy.

    My Interpretation

Also, now that I'm relistening, I think this song could also be about a girl who thinks that a guy is cheating on her, so she "locks up her heart" and tries to move on. However, she realizes he wasn't cheating or really was there for her for the right reasons and she realizes he wasn't a fake all along... but now it's too late, he's already mad at her for not trusting him. If she knew that he was hers all along, this never would've happened, and now their relationship is ruined. ("Bet I'll make another mistake and think he's just another fake") This is the line that gives me that idea. She'll meet another guy that's just like him but she might make the same mistake as this time and think he's not here for the right reasons/cheating/ a fake. Also she might have trust issues but he really was the good guy... she just wishes she knew that sooner.

Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”

I Can't Go To Sleep
Wu-Tang Clan
This song is written as the perspective of the boys in the street, as a whole, and what path they are going to choose as they get older and grow into men. (This is why the music video takes place in an orphanage.) The seen, and unseen collective suffering is imbedded in the boys’ mind, consciously or subconsciously, and is haunting them. Which path will the boys choose? Issac Hayes is the voice of reason, maybe God, the angel on his shoulder, or the voice of his forefathers from beyond the grave who can see the big picture and are pleading with the boys not to continue the violence and pattern of killing their brothers, but to rise above. The most beautiful song and has so many levels. Racism towards African Americans in America would not exist if everyone sat down and listened to this song and understood the history behind the words. The power, fear, pleading in RZA and Ghostface voices are genuine and powerful. Issac Hayes’ strong voice makes the perfect strong father figure, who is possibly from beyond the grave.

Same ideas expressed in Fitter, Happier are expressed in this song. We're told to strive for some sort of ideal life, which includes getting a good job, being kind to everyone, finding a partner, getting married, having a couple kids, living in a quiet neighborhood in a nice big house, etc. But in Fitter, Happier the narrator(?) realizes that it's incredibly robotic to live this life. People are being used by those in power "like a pig in a cage on antibiotics"--being pacified with things like new phones and cool gadgets and houses while being sucked dry. On No Surprises, the narrator is realizing how this life is killing him slowly. In the video, his helmet is slowly filling up with water, drowning him. But he's so complacent with it. This is a good summary of the song. This boring, "perfect" life foisted upon us by some higher powers (not spiritual, but political, economic, etc. politicians and businessmen, perhaps) is not the way to live. But there is seemingly no way out but death. He'd rather die peacefully right now than live in this cage. While our lives are often shielded, we're in our own protective bubbles, or protective helmets like the one Thom wears, if we look a little harder we can see all the corruption, lies, manipulation, etc. that is going on in the world, often run by huge yet nearly invisible organizations, corporations, and 'leaders'. It's a very hopeless song because it reflects real life.

Page

There aren’t many things that’ll hurt more than giving love a chance against your better judgement only to have your heart crushed yet again. Ed Sheeran tells such a story on “Page.” On this track, he is devastated to have lost his lover and even more saddened by the feeling that he may never move on from this.
