Remember Me Lyrics
It's safe to say there's only now
A place called home is just
a memory away
I know I've done this all before
A thousand silent voices
begging me to stay
Apologies all left unsaid
Secrets better left unspoken
Dreams laid down and put to bed
Rumors stirred and re-awoken
If I try to get away
How long until I'm free?
And if I don't come back here
Will you remember me?
It's safe to say there's nothing now
It's all so quiet but I can't
forget the sound
A thousand voices call my name
A thousand hands that pull me
back down to the ground
I turn away from what you are
Denying all that you have given
I find a place that's safe and far
In time all will be forgiven
If I try to get away
How long until I'm free?
And if I don't come back here
Will you remember me?
A place called home is just
a memory away
I know I've done this all before
A thousand silent voices
begging me to stay
Secrets better left unspoken
Dreams laid down and put to bed
Rumors stirred and re-awoken
How long until I'm free?
And if I don't come back here
Will you remember me?
It's all so quiet but I can't
forget the sound
A thousand voices call my name
A thousand hands that pull me
back down to the ground
Denying all that you have given
I find a place that's safe and far
In time all will be forgiven
How long until I'm free?
And if I don't come back here
Will you remember me?

Lovely song... It seems the person has tried to escape something, but somehow she cannot and its difficult for her to forget about it. Perhaps this something is a person she once loved and saw was not acceptable to her life. This something could also be her hometown, family, or herself. Somehow its hard for her to let go of the past, she might or want to try. I also noted the song from the perspective of a person who does not feel welcome in where she is or was, and she has decided to run away from that place, trying to forget about it all and reach to live a newer life all on her own, But can she? It seems she is unsure, but so far she's doing it, but she still misses the times shes leaving.
to be honest i think its the opposite she doesnt want to leave but feels she cant stay

The voice is amazing...I totally lose track while listening this song. It just seems so short because I cant get enough.
the birthday massacre used to be one of my favorite bands for a long time they were my first concert and this is my favorite song.... and it does seeem short because it is amazing.
short but what a great deal of emotion on this song.it makes you feel so lost.great wording..
I think this is about a member of a cult who realizes that it is wrong and tries to escape. That's all I think of when I hear this song. I always picture a child telling her friend about her plans to escape and asking her if she will remember her-
If I try to get away How long until I'm free And if I don't come back here Will you remember me?
The first two lines seem to hint that even if she does escape, the memory will always be with her. The third line suggests that she will come back to rescue her friend, but she may not be able to.
The girl feels alone even though this cult is the only "home" she's ever known-
It's safe to say I'm lonely now A place called home
All the little children of the cult know that it is wrong but don't speak up about it for fear of what will happen if they do. The other kids try to keep the girl from running away because they are scared she will not be able to survive in the real world-
Begging me to stay Apologies all left unsaid Secrets better left unspoken Dreams are slowly put to bed Rumors stirred and reawoken
The last line probably hints at the recurring talking about escaping.
The chief members of the cult keep her from escaping by force, telling her that the cult is not wrong-
Can't forget the sound A thousand voices call my name A thousand hands that Pull me back down to the ground
All the time the girl has grown up she has looked up to the adults, but now she realizes how wrong they were-
I turn away from what you are Denying all that you have given I find a place that's safe and far In time all will be forgiven
It almost seems like it's the ghost of someone talking. They are trying to move on to the afterlife, yet can't do it because of some unfinished business. in the end the people living defeat the ghost's will to move one because they can't let go and neither can the ghost.
I think she actually says "It's safe to say there's nothing now" anyway, it's amazing how clear her voice is on the walking with strangers version, the one on my mp3 is really faint, mezmerizing, quiet almost. It works really well because it adds to the "creepy effect".
those lyrics are a little miswritten
it's "It's safe to say that it's over now A place called home is just a memory alley" in the start
for me it just talks about a relationship one wants to break for some reason
she has some doubt "A thousand voices call my name" - she wanting to break "A thousand hands that pull me back down to the ground" - she wanting to maintain
but in most of the lyrics, she seems determined "I turn away from what you were Denying all that you have given And find a place that's safe and far In time all will be forgiven" - she thinking about forgeting that relationship, it's clear
on another part, she seems like feeling desires for someone else or just desires to be single again and knowing other people, changing her life becouse she's not in love anymore "Apologies all left unsaid" - apologias to him for her new feelings, or maybe to her for some hurt she has from her partner (that, maybe, is partly cause of her new feelings) "Secrets better left unspoken" - her desires "Dreams lay down and are put to bed" - she abdicating from her desires becouse of him "Rumors stirred and reawoken" - her new desires
I kinda feel that the character doesnt want to leave but sees no real reason to stay and no one seems to be stopping her "a thousand SILENT voices begging me to stay". shes even willing to start up old rumours to feel remotley wanted. then as soon as she has decided to go they want her but its too late
This song is about leaving a place that one has called home for a while. That can be figurative (such as a person/people that made you feel at home) or literal (a neighborhood/city). There's some sort of conflict that causes trouble and the person leaves to avoid the mess, wondering if anyone will care years down the line that he/she left. It also talks about the ties that the person had to the "home" and missing those ties, but ignoring all that those people/places have done and attempting to move on.
