Part Two Lyrics
...I hope that I can seem flawless to you
and always take away the pain that you'll go through.
My impression is not always what it seems
You're more of a reflection of what I used to be
...So why do I feel hollow when I look at your photograph?
You take down my fortress and kill me with a smile
Please hold that thought a while
And I'll try to put you on this path.
I hope you find the road I couldn't see.
You won't be by yourself,
I'll live for your problems and think of you when I'm gone,
Don't worry now it won't be long
Once I was you I thought the world was safe,
A new perspective; everybody is insane.
Protecting you is a paranoid excuse,
I know that you'll do better than I could ever do.
...and thoughts of self-destruction
Are now all buried in the past,
You take down my barricade and melt away my heart
If loving hurts so much I want this pain to always last,
I hope you pass the test that I have failed.
You won't be by yourself
I'll live for your problems and think of you when I'm gone,
Don't worry now it won't be long
I apologize to you for the words not spoken yet,
Don't want you to look backand live in regret,
Some day you'll ask me why I was away...
and always take away the pain that you'll go through.
My impression is not always what it seems
You're more of a reflection of what I used to be

Can someone write down the brittish voice in the end of the song? I can barely hear the words, but I don't dare writing them down! Very very good song! No Use is one of the best bands ever. The vocals are kinda wimpy though, but still so damn good! More love to No Use.
In response to the last poster, the voice says:
"He knew exactly what was happening and had known ever since his Sub-Etha Sens-O- Matic had started winking in the dead of night beside his pillar and woken him with a start."
It's a quote from chapter 3 of The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams. I have no idea why they'd put it in though.
I believe this song is actually about his children. This is what makes Tony such a good writer. I think he wrote it as a sort of apology for being on tour, but he made it deeper, about expecting his death. It's really is inspiring to think that he died only a couple years later. Like for Fiona. If I'm not mistaken anyways.
In regards to the Hitchhiker quote... I don't remember that exact quote... but the original book and movie was basically about a guy who had to leave the planet to (sort of) save the planet... Tony was out there saving the world with his songs. More specifically, i feel it just means he saw that she was wondering why he was always away, or at least knew that she would wonder that, woke up, and wrote a song about it.

Sorry, typo in the last bit, it's "pillow", not "pillar".
Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is about a disillusioned society so i'm guessing that is why they added the audio clip. They felt it spoke to the mood of the song.
First of all look this song up as Part 2 on this site....
copied myself from the other one... not including the ending quote to the song

This song has this eeriness to it considering his passing. A lot of his music about his children are almost foreboding his death. Of course that's highly unlikely, but it's just such an ominous sounding song.
I must say, with years taken away from listening punk rock, not a thought crossed my mind that this music was any less endearing or inspiring as mainstream stuff. Tony Sly and his band were so instrumental in my youth.
