The 21st Lyrics
The 21st. comes so soon every month
An anniversary of not being strong enough
You're much too co-dependent
A shrink is recommended
Your father tells you to try to be responsable
Your mother loves you, but not the way she did before
Your brother's torn to pieces
But no one knows the reasons
He loves the winter, but it smells too much like memories
The ornament she gave him still hangs from his Christmas tree
A jingle bell will glisten
That's when she loved to kiss him
So say farewell to all the little things she would say and do
The morning, sleepy eyed girl waves goodbye to you
You're much to co-dependent
A shrink is recommended
Yeah...
But yeah, who are the people you hang around with?
Who are the ones you're gonna call?
When you feel like ending it all?
But yeah, who are the people you hang around with?
Who are the ones you're gonna call?
When you feel like ending it all?
But I can't bring you down
But I can't bring you down
But I can't bring you down
But I can't bring you down
But I can't bring you down
But I can't bring you down
But I can't bring you down
An anniversary of not being strong enough

DISCLAIMER I have just obtained a copy of Justin Furstenfeld's book Crazy Making. It's not very detailed, but it contains all the lyrics to all current (The Answers - Approaching Normal) Blue October songs, and his inspiration behind them. As I said, it's not very detailed, but it's his words on every Blue October song that is in the book. I know everyone interprets a song differently from everyone else, but having the original intent behind the song will be helpful to people who don't fully understand a song. Also, any grammatical errors are not made by me, I'm putting down Justin's words exactly how he writes them. So yea... enjoy :)
The 21st: "My first real heart break"
I have the book also and I been through it but it wasn't till you're post that I had to go back and see that. I love this song along with almost all his song. I can relate to a lot of his feelings and how he feels. I know my suicidal thoughts and wishing of death was not cause I am bi polar but because I feel so worthless. and so pathetic about who I am and why I cant getting anywhere in life. thank you for helping me to find it again the book.

Another great one.
I listen, make sad.
Pretty Self-Explanatory.
The 21st was the date when Justin used to get his monthly anti-depression medication, and had to cope with the memories of all that he's done. It's also explaining his post-suicidal experience, when his parents distanced from him and his older brother was so upset with what he'd done. Definitely an apt depiction of how much one person's suicidal tendencies hurt everyone around them. It's really the most selfish thing someone can do.
