i think the gatekeeper is time. 'seasons wait for your nod'. you enter a relationship in the summer, not the physical june-july-august summer, but that time where you're falling in love and everything is easy. then time goes past. passions grow cold, they freeze, and they die.
so you move on. you tell yourself, "Don't be fooled by that summer again." but it's really just a matter of time.

the gatekeeper is the person who keeps time the way it is...not time itself. its the entity that keeps things the same or puts change into action. its time that fools a person but the gatekeeper tries to keep time from moving on as long as possible.
snow melts, flowers are in bloom and the smell of spring is in the air ...resulting in someone new for the summer...
for those that don't live in areas of 4 seasons, when spring comes after a rough winter, everyone around you is just in a better, happier mood. you can smell the lust in the air.
to me, this new interest is the gatekeeper who extended the happiness of summer into the beginning of winter "held their breath and made the summer go on and on" only later to lead to heartbreak to make winter go on and on...
its a realization to not be fooled by emotions and lust... and to maybe next time use their brain and date someone more right for that person
