This song says a lot to me. I promised to keep this secret, but at the same time I'm not even sure what secret I am keeping.

Please speak softly for they will hear us and they'll find out why we don't trust them

Don't say anything too loudly or say too much because the people you don't want to know might hear you.

Speak up dear 'cause I cannot hear you I need to know why we don't trust them

At the same time, speak a little louder/clearer so at least I know what is going on. I need to know why they can't know this secret.

When the hell did I become responsible for all of this? It's overwhelming, and I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place. I have no power because I promised to keep this secret, yet at the same time, telling this secret might be the only way to fix some things.

Where can I turn 'cause I need something more Surrounded by uncertianty I'm so unsure of... Tell me why I feel so alone 'cause I need to know to whom do I owe

I am so confused as to what to do. Whom do I have a loyalty to? This family? Or one of my best friends? I don't know which person deserves to know.

I thought you would make it because you said that we'd make it through And when all security fails you'd be there to help me through

And this is where it hits home. The son (whom was also one of my best friends) passed away. He's the person I originally promised to keep the secret for. And in return, he promised he'd always be there for me because he knew how hard it was to keep the secret. But now he's not here, and it's even harder.

She can't see what's the truth from the lies, why is this [things] happening to her? What happened? Can someone please explain to her? She's in doubt in everything she hears/sees/

She don't know who to trust anymore. She's looking [because she's not sure in all she sees/hears] for a REAL FRIEND or someone to help her through. She feels so alone because as I've said, she can't differ now what's the truth from all of it

It's like she's asking if you can help her from all of these uncertainty, she needs someone to help her through all of what [problems] she's facing now

WOAH, I can't believe there's only like one comment for this song.... Well to me, it seems like she's not sure of what she's supposed to be thinking about in general because poeple have lied to her. "Please speak softly,or they will hear us,and they'll find out,why we don't trust them" She doesn't know who to believe anymore. and she is confused "I need to know, why we don't trust them" She feels like everything is piling up and like when did she become like this, doubtful and when she realised that she really doesn't actually know what's true anymore. She wants answers for what has happened to her and she wants to know when things started to go wrong, whilst she thoguht that there was someone there to help her, a lover that maybe promised her that he would be ther for her no matter what happened between them, and that he'd help her with what she was feeling. She wants to know why maybe he is the one that lied to her. Meh, probably doesn't make sense, but this song really is beautiful

For me this song is showing that she lost a war. She had disagreed with something and fought against it. But she lost, or maybe won but she lost something else. For me it reminded me of the last Divergent book. Because Tris rebelled against the factions and they won but Tris died. Sorry for spoilers. -Mia

I do love this song, this is y favourite song by Paramore. It's just so raw, so full of emotion it makes me very happy and inspired -also it helps me write stories-

At first the lyrics confused me...well they still do a bit but not as much, there's what I think of them;

When Hayley sings 'Speak up, dear, cause I cannot hear you I need to know why we don't trust them' I think she's saying she doesn't know whom/what to trust or believe anymore that the lyrics kinda just give them same idea.

But when she sings 'Explain to me this conspiracy against me And tell me how I've lost my power' This put a different idea in my head it sounds like she being backstabbed in a way, like people are hating on her and she doesn't know why and she just wants some answers. And when she sings 'I've lost my power' it suggests -to me- that she is hated or is not what she used to be and so o and so fourth

Well that's just my veiw anyways :'3
