The singer lost his wife to cancer. Their band is called "Daphne Loves Derby" because his wife was named Daphne and she had nicknamed him Derby.

I lost my best friend a month ago in a tragic surfing accident. He was like my other half, my brother. I was the girl that would ignore the fact that I was in love with my best friend and would go out with older guys. I saw him the day before at school and then that next morning he was gone...at 15 years old...gone in a split second. Everything happens for a reason. My life has been forever changed and nothing will ever be the same. This song really expresses to the way I've been feeling and will always feel for the rest of my life. Though he may be gone from earth, he is alive and at his true home in Heaven living his life in Eternity with our amazing God. I miss him so much. I wish I could have let him know how much I cared about him and that I loved him while he was here. But I think he knows. I know he knows now. I'm happy to know that he is happy. Live In Peace CM. I love you.

ohmy,this has to be the prettiest song i've ever heard.
i think it's about.a couple.who splits up.or someone who has past away,that was very close to them.
I agree with said statement above, this definitely has to be the prettiest song I've ever heard as well. It does sound like it's a song about a loved one who passed away, but perhaps it could be a person a great distance from him that he misses.

I interpreted it as a couple splits up but one of them decide that breaking up was a mistake and wants to get back together. Maybe the other person has moved on. I can relate to this and I agree. The song is very pretty. I can't listen to it only once.

To me this song is about a couple that broke up because she left for another man. She moved on and he's still hoping that she'll come back to him. Granted, it could have just been that she left. Such a beautiful song. I can't seem to stop listening. "I have been holding my breath for too many nights in a row..." So good!
To me, it's more like someone had left someone else but like, didn't know how much big of an impact they could've left in the other's life. But that's just me!
