your bitter goodbye is
ringing through this quiet night
this idle hour just wont pass
ive never missed you this much
never thought i would
didnt think youd feel so far away

your summer perfume is still
blowing through this hallway
autumns amber red shadows dance
i miss our midnight rides
on highway 18...
18 is gone

so go past the lights
and all the excuses
you could have left "sincerely yours"
dont you think its obvious
that i want to say more?
cause anything too daring to say to you
will be said in this letter
then burned away
so you never realize im here

im thinking of your vague reply
so i can understand
why we put this at rest
why we forget to
say that we were leaving
say that we were sorry
the past remains unspoken
as this vacant night is dying

but i still miss your summer perfume
this cold air brings such a distance to us
such a painful distance
and im still waiting for you to say
you hate me now
so i dont have to
hold on to this burning heart
this burning heart is getting old
getting old...

and while sitting on this cold kitchen floor
head down to hide the tears
ive realized
ive finally realized
that you were never meant for me

This is about 2 people who have had fun in the past but then the girl suddenly left. Leaving the boy confused with no real reason whatsoever as to why she had to leave.

Now the boy is left, recalling the past and why his questions still remained unanswered. He grows tired of waiting and realizes that 'she was never meant for him'.

This really, is a beautiful song. Go give it a listen at purevolume.com/daphnelovesderby :)

I love the way Kenny sings it, so you need to be nice. They are so amazing live, and they are such nice guys, too.

The song itself is really very sad, though, I agree, but I love it, a lot. It's probably my favorite DLD song, followed by Simple, Starving to be Safe. :)

Techno Ted
Audioslave
Techno Ted may be a person who caused Chris incredible emotional pain & trepidation as well as moments of peace & happiness but now is removed and awaiting his fate. Darling may be a different person who is also free of him and can live her life free of Ted's tyranny. "In between all the laughing, and daydreams ... lies: a desert of truth" Lies are like a desert or the omission of Truth: Where there were Lies then Truth was absent. The song, "Techno Ted", may be a cathartic celebration of the downfall of this person.

Cajun Girl
Little Feat
Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988. "'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it." "There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."
