Communications down
I float without
A light to lead me back
I'm lost again
They say silence is golden
Loneliness never shined like this
Diseased the leper sits
The leper is me

Fireflies illuminate your eyes
The moon will lead me back to earth again

Caught between the stars
A well lit drowning
Darkness mocks me with
A broken compass
So I swim in a sea
Of distress
Broken down, and helpless
The leper sits diseased
The leper is me

Fireflies illuminate your eyes
The moon will lead me back to earth again

Floating all alone
Floating all alone

Fireflies illuminate your eyes
The moon will lead me back to earth again
Fireflies illuminate your eyes
The moon will lead me back to earth again
Fireflies illuminate your eyes
The moon will lead me back to earth again
Fireflies illuminate your eyes
The moon will lead me back to earth again

this song is apparently about being lost, (fallen away from friends/faith/love etc) and needing some "light" to guide you back. the 'fireflies' are the help he needs to help guide him back. thats my thoughts anyhow.

finches new sound is more of an aquired taste. The average attention-starved emo middle schooler probably won't like their new music, however people who enjoy good, hard rock with tight screams, hard riffs, and cryptic lyrics will LOVE this new cd. that's me at least =)

I listen to this when I am having a bad week and you are just looking for that something to help you get up and stop feeling shitty. And this song is kind of like a firefly to me.

This song has a really epic feel to it, which I just love! It makes me imagine someone taking a secret journey under cover of night. And sometimes vampires. Or astronauts.

...None of those things fit together at all. XD

Anyway, I think this song is the kind that isn't really about anything in particular and focuses more on putting striking images into the listener's head. I like that it leaves it up to the listener to make associations. And I personally think the imagery in this song is spectacular.

Fortnight
Taylor Swift
The song 'Fortnight' by Taylor Swift and Post Malone tells a story about strong feelings, complicated relationships, and secret wishes. It talks about love, betrayal, and wanting someone who doesn't feel the same. The word 'fortnight' shows short-lived happiness and guilty pleasures, leading to sadness. It shows how messy relationships can be and the results of hiding emotions. “I was supposed to be sent away / But they forgot to come and get me,” she kickstarts the song in the first verse with lines suggesting an admission to a hospital for people with mental illnesses. She goes in the verse admitting her lover is the reason why she is like this. In the chorus, she sings about their time in love and reflects on how he has now settled with someone else. “I took the miracle move-on drug, the effects were temporary / And I love you, it’s ruining my life,” on the second verse she details her struggles to forget about him and the negative effects of her failure. “Thought of callin’ ya, but you won’t pick up / ‘Nother fortnight lost in America,” Post Malone sings in the outro.

Fast Car
Tracy Chapman
"Fast car" is kind of a continuation of Bruce Springsteen's "Born to Run." It has all the clawing your way to a better life, but in this case the protagonist never makes it with her love; in fact she is dragged back down by him. There is still an amazing amount of hope and will in the lyrics; and the lyrics themselve rank and easy five. If only music was stronger it would be one of those great radio songs that you hear once a week 20 years after it was released. The imagery is almost tear-jerking ("City lights lay out before us", "Speeds so fast felt like I was drunk"), and the idea of starting from nothing and just driving and working and denigrating yourself for a chance at being just above poverty, then losing in the end is just painful and inspiring at the same time.

Just A Little Lovin'
Dusty Springfield
I don't think it's necessarily about sex. It's about wanting to start the day with some love and affection. Maybe a warm cuddle. I'm not alone in interpreting it that way! For example: "'Just a Little Lovin’ is a timeless country song originally recorded by Eddy Arnold in 1954. The song, written by Eddie Miller and Jimmy Campbell, explores the delicate nuances of love and showcases Arnold’s emotive vocals. It delves into the universal theme of love and how even the smallest gesture of affection can have a profound impact on our lives." https://oldtimemusic.com/the-meaning-behind-the-song-just-a-little-lovin-by-eddy-arnold/
