Rodeo Town Lyrics

If I'm so evil, why are you satisfied?
If I'm so evil, why are you satisfied?
I had a dream about your ghost.
You were breathing down my neck.
Idiot style in the shower,
flicking your ashes down the drain.
You were telling me how this ain't no rodeo town.
I caught the gun but you made me set it down.
If I'm so evil, why are you satisfied?
If I'm so evil, why are you satisfied?
When you left you said, "I'm gonna keep an eye on you".
Well, I don't mind if you do, but you can't keep quiet.
You were telling me how this ain't no rodeo town.
I caught the gun but you made me set it down.
You were telling me how this ain't no rodeo town...
I caught the gun, but you made me set it down.

This is my favorite The Kills song!!!! The first two lines give me goosebumps - "If I'm so evil, why are you satisfied? If I'm so evil, why are you satisfied?". This song just reminds me of me and that's why I love it. Pure genius.

Sends a shiver down me spine mwahahaha... I think it's just about missing someone, kinda, wishing they were still with you..maybe kinda about obsession... but that doesn't fit with the lyric If I'm so evil why are you satisfied. Meh, Iunno, all the Kills lyrics confuse my little brain...

I think this song is about having grown mistrustful and defensive as a result of too many experiences which resulted in hurt. She regards her current lover with suspicion, even pushing him away, with statements that seem to say "I'm evil, why would you even want to be with me?" He tries to assure her by saying "this ain't no rodeo town" meaning, no one's out to harm anyone here. Referencing to "cocking the gun" is a reference to her being on the attack, and he again, is simply telling her that his intention is not to hurt her. Great song.

My Interpretation

I could easily be wrong..but from what i gather i think this song is about a relationship. It seems like she keeps trying to do things right in a relationship, but all the other half of the relationship sees is someone who keeps making mistakes and fucking up. It's as if she doesn't understand why hes even the slightest bit satisfied with her when hes always complaining about how "evil" and "bad" she is. Also when she says "You were telling me how This ain't no Rodeo Town I caught the gun But you made me set it down"

It's as if she is always on edge with him. Always ready to defend herself because hes always putting her in..i should say.. the "dog house" but whenever she does he tells her to stop. And she listens...which makes this relationship even more exhausting and confusing.

This song is so beautiful I love it so much. My interpretation of it is it's about somebody who hates herself, even though she has a lover who loves her very much (if I'm so evil, why are you satisfied?) and she keeps trying to kill herself, but her lover keeps stopping her (I caught the gun, but you made me set it down)
