12:97:24:99 Lyrics
The sublime destroys
the boundaries of finiteness,
yet this phenomenon
is seen by the self
not as an act of destruction,
but rather,
as a kind of elevation
and liberation.
For it is in the feeling of infinitude
which it now discovers
within itself
that it may enjoy
a new experience,
within its own boundlessness.
the boundaries of finiteness,
yet this phenomenon
is seen by the self
not as an act of destruction,
but rather,
as a kind of elevation
and liberation.
For it is in the feeling of infinitude
which it now discovers
within itself
that it may enjoy
a new experience,
within its own boundlessness.

While I haven't actually looked into that translation, I believe that what this message is stating, is expansion and creation are forever subjected to further understanding that requires complacence in ones self in order to elevate and project ourselves into a new wave of discovery. Therefore not destruction, but an awakening. Within yourself. No longer restricted to the perils of the unborn. Excellence and the loss a limitation to permission and self given vantage achieved through the time that is given for understanding, allowing yourself to break your own boundaries continually in an unending process.
Sorry I went a bit in depth.
Seems a bit repetitive and out of order to me, the translation that is...but that's what I took from it.
hmm i had to break out the dictionary on this one, i paraphrased it mabey to make it a little easier to understand
The (elevated, celestial) destroys The boundaires of (being finite, having boundaries) (This cancels out, being sublime eliminatesthe boundaries of having boundaries) Yet this (occurence, circumstance) Is seen by the self (percieved by the thing that is sublime) not as an act of destruction but rather, as a kind of elevation (like a high) and liberation For it is the feeling of (infinetness, no boundaries) Which it now discovers Within itself that it may enjoy a new experience Within it's own boundlessness
personally, i think this is about drugs. I think the "sumblime" is referring to some kind of high, because when you are high, you feel "boundless" like nothing can hold you down and everything is okay. So you are in a state of infiniteness, and in that state you may find things out about yourself that would have been hard to find when you were sober.

Its been said before, but 12:97:24:99 someone simplifies to 11:11. I just it was interesting to note that they believers of the 11:11 religion, worshipers, whatever you want to call them believe that at the end of the world, 11:11 will appear in fire in the sky. Can't remember where I found that, but I specifically remember that piece of information.
That's why I think its placed where it is on the CD, right before "The End of All Things to Come." It just fits perfectly.
As for the translated lyrics, I think it ties into the song that follows it. They seem to be talking about destroying the world not to be destructive but to start over and create something mroe wonderful. To do this, you need to change the way you think and expand your boundaries, or something to that effect.
Sorry, a lot of this stuff goes over my head.
Also to add, I'm pretty sure its eleven seconds of silence and not twelve. I know its not that big of a deal (oooh! a second!) but it ties in better with being eleven.
This song is about the end of the 'Great Cycle' or as most people have heard, the end of the Mayan calendar (13.0.0.0.0). It has been said that this date, which translates to 12/21/2012 11:11am.People have been speculating for some time now that this date represents transcendence to the 4th dimension and the next phase of evolution.
Others have speculated that 2012 will be the end of the world, but read these lines and it shows that's not what Chad is talking about.
yet this phenomenon is seen by the self not as an act of destruction, but rather, as a kind of elevation and liberation.
this is what the writing in the booklet in the album translates to, does anyone understand it? i almost do but dont haha
That's the surface meaning...
I think drugs would be too obvious and typical though...
You're not off base though...
I think that may act as a gateway...
Would explain the whole part of "seen by ones self not as an act of destruction" implying destruction may in fact be a result of the action.
The drug reference well, actually fits right in with what I said minus the drug interpretation...cool...
Drug would work - If the band itself had not said that NONE of their songs or lyrics now are refering to Drugs.
So that throws drugs out of the question.
Yeah well that's now, and this was then.
So hush.
isn't this song just 12 seconds of silence?
