Wish Resign Lyrics
alter and teach the ages
nothing you love lasts too long
a marvelous calm abandonded in the stages of birth
mother vs. the mid wife
who'll tell the children about her life
that's why you never mentioned my name to them
denying us all of the moment
that's why you never mentioned my name to them
denying us all of the moment
what brought you back to this place
i knew you'd never learn
i knew you'd never
anything expected of you now
i knew you'd never learn
i place my bet down now
you'd be the first one to sell me out
that's why you never mentioned my name to them
denying us all of the moment
that's why you never mentioned my name to them
denying us all of the moment
what brought you back to this place
i knew you'd never learn
i knew you'd never
what brought you back to this place
i knew you'd never learn (it's obvious)
what brought you back to this place
what brought you back to this place
nothing you love lasts too long
a marvelous calm abandonded in the stages of birth
mother vs. the mid wife
who'll tell the children about her life
denying us all of the moment
that's why you never mentioned my name to them
denying us all of the moment

i knew you'd never

alright. not all of circa's songs are about anthony leaving saosin. i don't think he's that desprate for them. this strikes me as more of a boy with a horrible realationship with his mother. i sense a lot of resentment in this song.
I'm pretty sure this song isnt reflective of anthony's childhood, hes said on multiple occasions that he draws his influence for "juturna" from eternal sunshine of the spotless mind. Thats one of my favorite movies so I can see why.
the Lyrics "alter and teach the ages nothing you love lasts too long" aludes to Lacuna Inc. altering the memory of their patients knowing that love doesnt last forever causing people to want their memory erased, as Joel and Clem wanted.
"birth mother vs. the mid wife who'll tell the children about her life"
this talks about the ability we were born with to obtain information and memories, being the birth mother, the mid-wife, being Lacuna inc. stepping in and changing what we were born with infantilizing the mind through means of memory erasing.
wholl tell the children about her life- after ones memory is gone its up to the bystanders to voluntarily fill in missing information. Kirsten Dunts character sent the files back to the patients containing their procedure information, providing them the tapes which explained why they wanted the memory of that person or whatever erased. Filling them in on a portion of their life that was nonow missing.
"what brought you back to this place"- Before clemintine is completely erased from Joels memory she tells him to "meet me in montauk" the next morning Joel takes the train to Montauk not realizing why, Clemintine showed up too, bringing them back to where they first met. They werent aware of "what brought them back" to that place.
"that's why you never mentioned my name to them denying us all of the moment"
Lacuna sent a memo around to mutual friends of joel and Clem's , informing them not to mention their relationship to Clem, because she erased Joel from her life. they were to never mention Joel to her, basically denying that their relationship ever existed,"denying us all of the moment"
circa survive kicks ass
this is the best song by them and

please comment :(
Sounds like he has a bad relationship with his mom possibly. Just speculation. It's really hard to tell with these personal lyrics.
The song title, and the lyrics, are another reference to the movie, "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind". It's possible that the entire song is based off this movie (I'm very convinced that there is a sense of continuity throughout the album, so it's possible), much like Meet Me In Montauk.
I'm not the greatest at analyzing song lyrics themselves, so I'll avoid making an ass of myself and just leave it at that.
The quote that's referenced in the movie, by Alexander Pope, is:
"How happy is the blameless Vestals lot! The world forgetting, by the world forgot; Eternal sunshine of the spotless mind! Each prayer accepted, and each wish resigned."
Anybody who feels like adding line-by-line commentary would be much appreciated, as I'm sure that would help many people out.
Entire song = Entire album. It's late. =P

i still can't quite figure this song out. anthony green is seriously rediculous though.
i can't even begin to think about he comes up with all these things. hes simply amazing. overwhelming in fact, i wish i could tlak to him so bad.
