I think this song is for the most part self-explanatory. It's about feeling sorrowful, sad, believing the best times in your life are past, and wanting to sleep all the time to escape the feelings of sadness.

I do think it's about life going on after the one you love is gone. And the "deadlight holiday" the holiday,isn't lighted or bright now that they're gone. Like an anniversary,it's dead lighted now that the they aren't there to celebrate it with them. The music keeps playing and life keeps going,but it's over for your love one. You wanted to tell them something you didn't get to. Now it's too late. The memories are there but the person isn't. "There's nothing left here for us." They believe there's nothing left to live for if the one they love is gone. "In the end the secrets not worth keeping" you try to stay together knowing that they wouldn't want you to be sad, but you fall apart it's not worth faking happiness. You can tell everyone how you feel now that the anniversary has come, and it's the first time not having them there. So the day is gloomy, it's dark, the lights seemed blown for you. It's no longer a happy day cause you can't spend it with the one you love.

That's what I think. This song is sad. It's the saddest song by them. But it's the most beautiful one. I love it! Sorry for the last poorly written comment I made...

Wow, I like this song too. I never really paid much attention to the lyrics before, but now that I think about it, they're pretty sweet.

Basically, there were times that had meaning and they were fun and good, but somehow, or for some reason they all ended. Now there's nothing left to do, sad isn't it? "Killing time to make us stay" Apparently they want to stay so they look for things to do to give them a reason to stay. "Deadlight" means to block out light, so this holiday that they speak of is a dark and gloomy one. As for, "Memories in paraphrase" well, I looked up the meaning of paraphrase and it said, restatement of a text, passage, or work giving the meaning in another form. So I think what they are saying is they are trying to think of their memories in different ways. Analizing these lyrics seem pretty tough but I think I have a good idea of what the song means. I hope my comment helped others.

I think you have a good analysis on it "ladynausea" it is there best song by far lyrically and I also think it sounds the best you can tell she had a lot of emotion put into this song.

with "ladynausea" on the paraphrase bit. Except they could be wanting to have the time to relive the memories again, repeat everything ever done :)
