When the heartache ends Lyrics
what leaves you crying
and what makes you whole
there ain't no way that I can hold it down
falling to pieces
forever in doubt
why don't you tell me again
how you'll still be there
when the heartache ends
it's alright
why don't you tell me my friend
how you'll still be there
when the heartache ends
to find the surface when you're underground
there ain't no blanket that can hide this cold
there ain't no memory
that ever gets old
to the corners and the outskirts
while the lovers and the lonely
start to whisper all about me
and if I stand here silent
I almost start to feel you fading in
telling me hold on
cuz it's gonna be alright
when the heartache ends

i love this song.. why has no one commented?

The first song Rob Thomas ever wrote in his career I didn't like. I thought this song was too much like the Backstreet Boys and it just wasn't Rob. It feels like a song that was just shoved in there to fill up an empty spot. Almost like filling a hole in a leaking ship with the nearest possible piece, whether it fits well or not.

I think Chris_Dixon meant that it was the first song he hadn't liked. This is the perfect song for me right now actually... My boyfriend dumped me last night and all I want is for him to still be there, regardless... gah.

this is such a great song

i think this song is about having a close friend be there for you when you need him or her because sometimes to get though something you need someone to be there for you to get over the heartache of something even if that person had something to do with the heatache you still want them to be there for you when your in need of a friend because you can get though any tough time if there is someone there for you to lean on

Ah, my best friend played this for me in the car right after my first break-up. Sang my heart out.

This is a great song and it\'s so relevant today. So many people end their lives over failed relationships and this song means just let the heartache flow and it will end and you shouldn\'t end. Cool Song with hope as the overall meaning.

heh, your comment (chris_dixon) confused me a bit - are you referring to "lonely no more?" cause while i'm not sure if that's the first song he ever wrote in even his solo career (although it was the first to be released), it's certainly not the first throughout his entire music career. as far as i'm concerned, i believe rob thomas wrote every song on the MB20 albums. got to love him. :) but for the record, i definitely agree that "lonely no more" is a very boy band song, you couldn't have said it better, that was one of the first thoughts i got when i heard it. however, "when the heartache ends" is probably my favorite song off his solo album, and i'm surprised no one's commented, too. i guess it doesn't need much of an explanation though...
the narrator's described life in that it's hard (no kidding), but when the suffering is over, he's asking someone to still be with him, to endure it.
