Second Walk Lyrics
I take a second walk
down the street of fame
I have paid it off and paid for it again
all these miserable feelings never end
but to fall and be down's something I transcend
I've been a meal of mine
and slid down my throat
and all I'm facing is one more way to go
died so many times and then reapeared
all death looks like to me is a word that causes fear
I'm taking my place
In a world with different space
no time at all except how you move
be who you are
do what you do
not win or lose
down the street of fame
I have paid it off and paid for it again
all these miserable feelings never end
but to fall and be down's something I transcend
and slid down my throat
and all I'm facing is one more way to go
died so many times and then reapeared
all death looks like to me is a word that causes fear
I'm taking my place
In a world with different space
no time at all except how you move
be who you are
do what you do
not win or lose

i think i could be about b4 californication coming back into the chili's
i think that this song is about a second life or second chance to do what john likes to do or wants to do w/ his life. it tells us the things that he has regreted and would like to change
"be who you are, do what you do, not win or lose"
be yourself, and dont worry what others think, is what i think john learned from his expericnes.
and hes trying to tell others not to do what he did
I can't believe this one hasn't had more comments??? The theme is obvious by the title "Second Walk!" It's exactly that, he's taking a second walk down the street of fame - not his second chance with RHCP but with the gift of making music and saving his life by coming off heroin. By singing "I've been a meal of mine and slid down my throat" is a metaphor for eating himself up with drugs - "died so many times and then re-appeared" got high, got low. But then he realised "Death is just a word that causes fear" Realised there was more to life, that he could enjoy life, hence the lyrics "I'm taking my place in a world with different space!"
I think it's about how when the Chili Peppers first acquired fame, John didn't want it, so he left, did his whole drug thing, advanced as a human, and rejoined the Chilis when the time was right, and he was ready for fame. That, and how he almost died from his drug abuse and got a second chance at life.
