Such a nice song. I wish it got more recognition. Or it could be like it is now and be a little secret. Either way, it's still very, very, heart melting.
Very obvious intentions to how people interpret the song but it's one of the most beautiful songs I have ever heard. Very sweet and extremely gorgeous. His voice is amazing and he has a great talent for sweet songs, I've noticed. I LOVE IT!

Is this song as simple as it seems? Why are there so many lines about "moveing on"? ("yeah we’re moving on, moving right along.", "we’re moving on looking for direction")... and so much of this is sad, "shoes you can never fill" "Thinking back to innocence I can no longer connect" "I don’t have a heart left to throw around."
The chorus is very very sweet and warm... but what do all the sadder lyrics mean? Is he saying that there are bad things, and things are changeing, but their love won't?

I tend to agree with illy. I never actually noticed until I sat down and REALLY listened to the song. It is bittersweet.
Also, it's "tail lights" not "day lights".
It's like the verse don't match the chorus.
"Yes yeah we’re moving on looking for direction, mmm we’ve covered much ground Thinking back to innocence I can no longer connect I don’t have a heart left to throw around" - It's like he's talking about a serious, long relationship that is kind of ending and they are moving on, thinking back to old times.
"I don't have a heart left to throw around" - Maybe that means that he's quite hurt by the relationship, doesn't want to move on. He has no heart left to give to someone else.
"Oh and time moves like a train that disappears into the night sky. Yeah I still get a sad feeling inside to see the red tail lights wave good bye" - This is quite a symbolic line. That time moves on like a train; never ending, always moving, always very fast and disappears in an instant. The red tail lights are the tail lights of a car, so someone leaving in that car, that special person.
And with the chorus...I think he may be saying that he wants to still be with this person; grow old with them.

"Thinking back to innocence I can no longer connect" i see this as talking about that the relationship is now matured and that he can not connect back to the way things were when they were innocently in love. "I don’t have a heart left to throw around" i agree with Kahlia that he has no heart to give to others, but i believe that it's not because he got hurt in that relationship, but becuase he doesn't want to be in any another relationships. I also think the "red tail lights" are refering to the time, as in the time that he has missed and had passed him by. that's all i have to say... beautiful song either way =D loved it the first time i heard it and he sang it live on the australia day celebrations, just beautiful
