Techno Ted may be a person who caused Chris incredible emotional pain & trepidation as well as moments of peace & happiness but now is removed and awaiting his fate. Darling may be a different person who is also free of him and can live her life free of Ted's tyranny. "In between all the laughing, and daydreams ... lies: a desert of truth" Lies are like a desert or the omission of Truth: Where there were Lies then Truth was absent. The song, "Techno Ted", may be a cathartic celebration of the downfall of this person.
Well, I always play Russian Roulette in my head
It's seventeen black or twenty-nine red
How far from the gutter, how far from the pew
I will always remember to forget about you
A good man is hard to find
Only strangers sleep in my bed
My favorite words are: good-bye
And my favorite color is red
A long dead soldier looks out from the frame
No one remembers his war, no one remembers his name
Go out to the meadow, scare off all the crows
It does nothing but rain here, and nothing will grow
A good man is hard to find
Only strangers sleep in my bed
And my favorite words are goodbye
And my favorite color is
My favorite color is
My favorite color is red
It's seventeen black or twenty-nine red
How far from the gutter, how far from the pew
I will always remember to forget about you
A good man is hard to find
Only strangers sleep in my bed
My favorite words are: good-bye
And my favorite color is red
A long dead soldier looks out from the frame
No one remembers his war, no one remembers his name
Go out to the meadow, scare off all the crows
It does nothing but rain here, and nothing will grow
A good man is hard to find
Only strangers sleep in my bed
And my favorite words are goodbye
And my favorite color is
My favorite color is
My favorite color is red

"Fast car" is kind of a continuation of Bruce Springsteen's "Born to Run." It has all the clawing your way to a better life, but in this case the protagonist never makes it with her love; in fact she is dragged back down by him.
There is still an amazing amount of hope and will in the lyrics; and the lyrics themselve rank and easy five. If only music was stronger it would be one of those great radio songs that you hear once a week 20 years after it was released. The imagery is almost tear-jerking ("City lights lay out before us", "Speeds so fast felt like I was drunk"), and the idea of starting from nothing and just driving and working and denigrating yourself for a chance at being just above poverty, then losing in the end is just painful and inspiring at the same time.
Son Şansın - Şarkı Sözleri
Hayalperest
Hayalperest
This song seemingly tackles the methods of deception those who manipulate others use to get victims to follow their demands, as well as diverting attention away from important issues. They'll also use it as a means to convince people to hate or kill others by pretending acts of terrorism were committed by the enemy when the acts themselves were done by the masters of control to promote discrimination and hate. It also reinforces the idea that these manipulative forces operate in various locations, infiltrating everyday life without detection, and propagate any and everywhere.
In general, it highlights the danger of hidden agendas, manipulation, and distraction, serving as a critique of those who exploit chaos and confusion to control and gain power, depicting a cautionary tale against falling into their traps. It encourages us to question the narratives presented to us and remain vigilant against manipulation in various parts of society.

I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.

“Head > Heels” is a track that aims to capture what it feels like to experience romance that exceeds expectations. Ed Sheeran dedicates his album outro to a lover who has blessed him with a unique experience that he seeks to describe through the song’s nuanced lyrics.
A song where a man unabashedly reveals himself for what little he is worth. A man who will bed women (my favourite colour is red) and then part ways with them (my favourite words are goodbye/I'll always remember to forget about you). While he admits that by his own standards he is not a "good man," he is unfazed by this reality because he finds himself in a predominantly somber, immoral world where good men (long dead soldiers) are sent to die only to be forgotten (no one remembers his war/his name). Why covet a relationship in such a world? Instead, shoo away women after you've had your way with them (scare off all the crows) and accept that in this world of sadness (it does nothing but rain here) there is no point to building a relationship (nothing will grow).
@TRaeCH Very well put...
oh yeah... great cabaret style song, and he makes it sound like from that period too.
i love the trumpet solo
One of my favorite drinking songs.
Every time I hear a song like this, I feel like standing up and clapping.
Does anyone know the significance of 17 black or 29 red when it comes to roulette?
