i love this song. its how i feel alot of times and i think there's some people who can relate. besides maybe a significant other moving on and knowing you should too but can't, its that feeling of being out somewhere and wondering why you came, being surrounded by people who don't care about you when you'd rather be alone.

i really like the way that MCS seem to cover loads of things that are really relevant to me. this song is about being at a party and feeling out of place and fake because you are smiling. the new year, to a lot of people, symbolises a new start, and the point of the song is that it isnt - new years day is just another day, and your problems and issues dont magically disappear.
This was my exact new years eve. I've never felt like I truely fit in , I got rather drunk and told everybody. Then after my little outburst I got completely ignored. I would've been better at home on my own really . Ah well.

Probably my favorite part of the song. it specifies exactly how i feel right now. Great stand out song on the album.
This song is about how nothing changes. It's not completely apparent, but you can sort of see it. First off, the whole New Year thing is representative of starting-over. But basically the song says that's bullshit. "But most of all I’m bored." "Why won’t you listen to me?" "I’m not trying to sound so insincere But the postcard that’s taped the freezer reads: Wish you were here." "Last chance for changing lanes and you missed it by a mile." Yeah, it's a rather melancholy thought, but I swear, the whole song is a rant about waiting for change that'll never come. He tells himself that things will be different, but they never change, and he's just sick of the same crap he's always put up with.
A good song for when you're feeling hopeless or bored out of your mind by your own life.
