Mercy Me Lyrics
It's been a long day, living with this
It's been a long time since I felt so sick
I took a long walk straight back home
I could have walked back to San Francisco
I used to long for a time alone
I used to long for a place of my own
And I'm losing faith in everything
I'm lost, so lost, I'm lost at sea, you see
I used to long for broken bones
I used to long for a casket to call my own
I never had a problem facing fear
But I'm done, over and out, my dear
And oh, mercy me
God bless catastrophe
There's no way in hell
You'll ever live to see through this so
Drive yourself insane tonight
It's not that far away
And I just filled up your tank earlier today
Yeah...
It's been a long day, living with this
It's been a long time since I felt so sick
I took a long walk straight back home
I could have walked back to Chicago
I used to long for a time alone
I used to long for a place of my own
And I've lost faith in everything
I'm lost, so lost, I'm lost without you
Oh, mercy me
God bless catastrophe
There's no way in hell
We'll ever live to see through this so
Drive yourself insane tonight
It's not that far away
And I just filled up your tank earlier today
Yeah...
So drive yourself insane tonight
It's not that far away
And I just filled up your tank earlier today
Yeah... yeah...

I think that maybe it refers that derek and matt are going to move from sn francisco, now that they are married
love it. i know everyone hates when people relate songs to drugs, but thats what this song personally reminds me of.
My favorite song off the new record.
is it God Bless catastrophe?
i guess so....
i guess so....
mmmmm..........I have no idea, but, somebody please could tell me WHAT MEANS THAT HEs bach to sn fco or chicago. They live again in chicago?????????
i love how it goes from talking about metaphorical meanings and subliminal messages to saying oh yeah i filled ur tank earlier today. unless im missing another metaphorical reference so this is a breakup song? about it cant work out and its all a big mess
It's just about how he wants to get on with life, but it's not going to plan and hes 'lost' and on the verge of going insane.
SoConstantine... it is metaphorical, becuase he's on about 'driving' himself insane, and he's implying that he's could easily be 'driven' insane because the petrol tank in his car is filled.
I'm pretty sure that I think this song is about missing/needing something.
And that once the thing he misses/needs is gone, he realizes how much he needs it. Because before he didn't pay much attention to it, or took advantage of it, or even wished for it to leave.
And also I sense a little bit of something that skacore_dude said. I agree that he wants to get on with his life from something.
Evad, I agree, my favorite song off Crimson as well.
skibas grrl, yes they are in Chicago. Or at least that's where they stay when they aren't recording/touring.
Amazing song! and btw, Matt is a former San Franciscan, and of course we all know that they hail from Chicago.. so I think he's referring to that.
