I Want to Sing Lyrics

I want to sing to you my love
My only love and happiness
don't be so blue so blue my love
take off your shoes take off my dress
I want to sing to you my love
My only love and happiness
don't be so blue so blue my love
this too shall pass this too shall pass

but tell me, what have I done to deserve you?
must have done something cause that's how it works
must have been kind to kittens and birds,
in a previous life must have thought happy thoughts...

'cause there, you were there right beside me
then somehow inside me while inside myself
books on the shelf thoughts on the shelf
hands to myself, i should definitely keep my hands to myself

Love is a dangerous pastime
caught between madness and gladness of flight
nothing is wrong and nothing is right
falling asleep in your arms every night

But Love's such a strange situation
full of frustration and anger and fear
Everything's tears
nobody hears
nobody's here, and nobody hears...

I want to sing to you my love
my only love and happiness
don't be so blue so blue my love
take off your shoes take off my dress
I want to sing to you my love
my only love and happiness
don't be so blue so blue my love
This too shall pass, this too shall pass...

This song is so sweet. Regina's voice is so pure and pretty and it sounds lovely all on it's own, a cappella or however it is spelled. To me it sounds like it is about someone singing to their love, obviously, their only love and happiness, but they are in a little bit of a rough spot. But everything will be okay and they will stick together.

I think it's a depiction of love sung from the point of view of a harsh realist. One who hates the way it can take over your entire being and all your mind and soul and make you feel such strong uncontrollable primal emotions... one who realizes that the obsessive nature of young love is dangerous, and such a passionate affair must burn out eventually to rescue them both.

Yes, love is one of the most incredible and enjoyable things in life. But I hate it, I hate losing control of myself. I feel trapped in such an intense and passionate relationship, but all the while I savour every moment of it. The desire to be in it passes in time, and age and experience... which is a comfort. I need that knowledge to be able to open myself up to let myself feel...

I can relate to this song so deeply. I love it. :)

The line "this too shall pass" is a reference to a Jewish folktale about King Solomon asking one of his ministers to find him a magical ring which has the power to make sad men happy but happy men sad. Eventually the minister finds a craftsman who carves three hebrew words onto a ring for him; the words are a message that everything is fleeting and will not last forever.

Which is nice to know if, like the singer's love, you're feeling blue, but at the same time it's a pretty bleak thought when you're in the arms of the one you love.

(a pretty good account of the folktale can be found on wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/This_too_shall_pass )

so cute.. a person could only offer praise to this song. I wonder if she couldn't decide on a background to fit it or whether singing alone says something about the person in this song being true and seeing past the troubles, vunerable.

Regina's voice is so beautiful that instruments are unnecessary. I love this song. And I love singing this song. Even though I'm butchering it completely whenever I do. lol.

Oh, this is amazing. Her voice, the composition, the lyrics. Love is beautiful and strange and scary. Completely compelling and irresistible; just like this song.

I don't think it's being sung by a harsh realist, but to a harsh realist. Because she's telling the other person not to be so blue, not herself.
