Between the lines I get it
I read it when you spoke to me last night
Don’t think I don’t know what’s going on here
And be sure I didn’t come to steal your life

You leave before midnight,
you’re standing in the bright lights
Don’t be afraid
Don’t be afraid to come back to me
You leave before midnight
Standing in the back light
Don’t be afraid
Don’t be afraid to come back to me

And in disguise I will come to you
And darlin’ tonight
You will walk outside your soul
Don’t be surprised if I told you
You’re not as strong as you were told

‘Cause no one’s going to know
If you stay or if you go
If you do or if you don’t
At least you won’t be alone
Won’t be alone,

‘Cause no one’s going to know
If you stay or if you go
If you do or if you don’t
At least you won’t be alone
Won’t be alone

Well, first of all I'm very glad that Elan is getting success out of their native country, Mexico, from whiche I was born also...she has right now two excellent albums (Street Child and London Express)...She has many fans in Australia and in Europe...here in Mexico she's still poorly known...but that's because her management has been very bad... This song is the first single from Street Child and is quite simple to understand, a breakup between two lovers...

Take time to listen to Elan music...is really good, as well as her videos....

I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.
