Never Be Strong Lyrics
The rain-soaked streets do not appear
To long for me.
And secretly I know you’re near,
Subliminally.
Another hope appears to lure me there.
Tap the mic, electric hum, a luminescent glare.
For all the things that you witnessed,
You never uttered a sound,
You could have destroyed me so easily,
But you never did let me down.
It’s easier to tell, get it all off your chest,
But telling was never your aim.
You became strong through your silence,
I’ll never be strong through my shame.
I lost my key, these crimson hands,
The water spurred.
It took from me my one patsy,
And spread the word.
Now all is lost, I’m tranquillised,
I moved my hand across your thighs,
I could give myself to you,
But I swear you would leave.
And how am I supposed to forget the past,
When it’s there like a mirror? Shatter the glass?
And it’s you I deceived.
For all the things that you witnessed,
You never uttered a sound,
You could have destroyed me so easily,
But you never did let me down. (Shame).
It’s easier to tell, get it all off your chest,
But telling was never your aim.
You became strong through your silence,
I’ll never be strong through my shame.
Guilt’s tearing me apart, it’s burning in my heart,
It’s tearing me apart.
Shame,
I’m sorry, forgive me, believe me, forgive me,
Believe me, I’m sorry, forgive me, I’m sorry,
I’m sorry, forgive me, believe me, forgive me,
Believe me, I’m sorry, forgive me, I’m sorry,
I’m sorry, I’m sorry, I’m sorry, I’m sorry,
I’m sorry, I’m sorry, I’m sorry, I’m sorry.
For all the things that you witnessed, (Believe me, I’m sorry,)
You never uttered a sound, (Forgive me, I’m sorry,)
You could have destroyed me so easily, (Believe me, I’m sorry,)
But you never did let me down. (Shame).
It’s easier to tell, get it all off your chest, (Believe me, I’m sorry,)

Ok- where to begin. Guy has girlfriend, cheats on her and treats her badly (though it does appear he was in love with her- maybe just couldn't keep his pants on!) When she leaves him, the rain comes (and other metaphors) and he really misses her and regrets what he's done, perhaps because she never told anyone he'd cheated on her, a heroic act which saved his reputation.
