I'm getting cold
You used to have a heart
Now I guess its just a stone
You said Leave Me Alone
But even tho I'm here
You know that I'm already gone

Gone, baby
Even tho I'm here you know that I'm already gone
Gone, baby
Even tho I'm here you know that I'm already gone

We've got some time
So lets walk hand in hand together
And hold our heads up high
Since I can't read your mind
You've got to tell me what you're thinking
I won't write in the sky
I won't write in the sky

We're getting old
We've planted our seeds and now we wait for them to grow
You said I'll never show
You how I really feel or which way I'm gonna go

Gone, baby
Even tho I'm here you know that I'm already gone
Gone, baby
Even tho I'm here you know that I'm already gone

We've got some time
So lets walk hand in hand together
And hold our heads up high
Since I can't read your mind
You've got to tell me what you're thinking
I won't write in the sky
I won't write in the sky

No one to hold
The world will make a dream
And a prayer out of our bones
To find where we belong
Our shadows will remain
Even after we are gone

Gone, baby
Even tho I'm here you know that I'm already gone
Gone, baby
Even tho I'm here you know that I'm already gone

I think it's about a long term relationship that went bad, he got dumped, he's pissed/hurt/angry and wants it to go further/continue because they've obviously have/had a special bond (We've planted our seeds and now we wait for them to grow) he wants it to thrive..she doesn't say a word..so cold/insensitive/secret (you used to have a heart now I guess it's a stone)...he thinks they are right for each other..and they're getting older.. doesn't want to die alone..etc. But, it seems like she's tired of a relationship that is going nowhere and is non-commital (We've planted our seeds and now we wait for them to grow You said I'll never show You how I really feel or which way I'm gonna go) He feels time is running out on life..and is now ready to commit (We're getting old)..and he doesn't want to die alone..or not be remembered/loved (No one to hold The world will make a dream And a prayer out of our bones To find where we belong Our shadows will remain Even after we are gone) She doesn't want to talk about it..and he says don't worry, I'm not going to tell anyone (Since I can't read your mind You've got to tell me what you're thinking I won't write in the sky) And, lastly "EVEN THO" he's still around, it sounds like she gave up on him..and he's pleading don't let go (You said leave me alone But even tho I'm here You know that I'm already gone)

"Since I can't read your mind, You've got to tell me what you're thinking, I won't write in the sky." Now that is poetry. And I'm not really even a lyric person! The string arrangement, especially at that part, is absolutely perfect for this song. I'm not sure what the song REALLY means, but I associate this song with my new love interest and how shy he is and how much I wish he would finally just open up to me! So it's a very positive association for me :)

Really awesome song! The style during the chorus, especially vocal harmonies, etc, sounds a lot like what Fine Young Cannibals would sound like if they were still writing music today.

Ridgeback basically said what I was thinking, but phrased it much better than I could have. I agree completely. =)

Beautiful song, one of my favorites of all time. The fact that it only has six comments is shocking, but I'm definitely okay with that. I hate it when too many people like my music. haha.

Standing On The Edge Of Summer

In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday". I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.

I Can't Go To Sleep
Wu-Tang Clan
This song is written as the perspective of the boys in the street, as a whole, and what path they are going to choose as they get older and grow into men. (This is why the music video takes place in an orphanage.) The seen, and unseen collective suffering is imbedded in the boys’ mind, consciously or subconsciously, and is haunting them. Which path will the boys choose? Issac Hayes is the voice of reason, maybe God, the angel on his shoulder, or the voice of his forefathers from beyond the grave who can see the big picture and are pleading with the boys not to continue the violence and pattern of killing their brothers, but to rise above. The most beautiful song and has so many levels. Racism towards African Americans in America would not exist if everyone sat down and listened to this song and understood the history behind the words. The power, fear, pleading in RZA and Ghostface voices are genuine and powerful. Issac Hayes’ strong voice makes the perfect strong father figure, who is possibly from beyond the grave.
