R To The Core (English) Lyrics

you're the one that's stupid
you're a pig, acting all honest
but you hide your true self
can't hear anything, can't feel anything
this is a place of contradiction

my heart screamed out
you make fun of me
like you make fun of my dead left ear

i know everyone isn't like that
but i can't accept everything
so i still, even now scream out in a hoarse voice
to all you rotten people

there is an answer
so writhe in agony
and let your will to live come out
everyone's the same once they sin

this is definitely a very personal song. kyo IS partially deaf in his left ear. and many fans did abandon diru after they changed. this song is...shockingly honest and blatant.

but i disagree with windless_one. it's not mainly about people making fun of his ear. he says "LIKE you make fun of my dead left ear." i think that might just be there to let us know who he's talking about.

i think it's mainly about those who criticize their change or just their musical choices in general, especially kyo's screaming. many people, even if they still call themselves fans, either tease or complain about kyo screaming too much. that brings to mind the line:
"my heart screamed out, you make fun of me" -- his screaming is to convey his emotions. he puts all of himself out there as an artist. he quite literally sings his heart out on stage,

but people dont appreciate that: "but you hide your true self. can't hear anything, can't feel anything. this is a place of contradiction" -- these people are heartless to him. he is screaming his thoughts and feelings to a blind and deaf crowd.

"i know everyone isn't like that, but i can't accept everything" -- he knows he still has a few loyal fans, but the other ones discourage him too much.

"so i still, even now, scream out in a hoarse voice to all you rotten people" -- despite all this, there's nothing else he can do but keep singing.

all this is backed up by the fact that he screams the entire song. as if to spite all those who judge him. :)

I like this... I thought the discussion about the name was interesting too. about R standing for rotten and "myself" and how it's also in the "core" of the word core.

keep screaming with your heart kyo. the ones who can hear you will only love you even more! <3

Is this song about bullying because someone else isn't perfect? And they're bullying other people to hide how they feel about themselves? o.o

I'm guessing Kyo is talking about himself. Specially with the reference to his "dead left ear".

His left ear is "dead"? Oh, I didn´t not that...

I think he says about the hypocrite people.

Yes... after many years of working with Diru he was slowly losing his hearing in his left ear, he can still hear of of it but he considers it dead because it is uncommon and 'different' :'(

Yeah, he is partially deaf in one ear I think.

That's right. It's also kind of strange that an artist would mention such a thing in a song, though and say that people are making fun of his ear. I mean, that's pretty personal, yet not really meaning that much.

This song was actually written because of the fans that lost faith in Dir en grey after they changed their image. Kyo was outraged that people could lose faith over such a thing and wrote R to the Core.

Я TO THE CORE = rotten to the core

for all those dipshits who didn't know

Yes that is true but it is also word play because he sees the 'R' in the middle of the word 'Core'

Meaning:

R is in the core of 'Core'... and it is a rotten place to be...

Ooops I forgot to mention something... He realtes to that 'R' because he seems to be cought in the middle of these contradictions... just like how 'R' is cought in the middle of the word 'Core'

Actually, Я is I, or Me in russian. Kyo loves russian culture so he's using it in his lyrics.

Я might also be what you guys where saying, but first and foremost, its Me to the core, like it's what he believes at the core of his being

I don't think it's about Kyo being deaf in his left ear (if he even is).

Like DiruAsura said, it's about the fans that lost faith when Dir en grey gave up the Visual Kei image. Also, I believe they started calling Kyo "tone deaf", hence referring to "his deaf left ear."

I could be wrong though. :P

to settle all disputes or whatever, kyo is indeed deaf in his left ear just a bit. he was hospitalized in 2000 for hearing trouble, and now he is partially deaf in his left ear. just in case ya wanted to know lol.
