My Obsession Lyrics

Your touch, your ways
Leave me dumb without reson
Your love, my cage
My prison so pleasing
I spend my days tangled in thoughts of you
Stuck in this place, resigned to be your fool

I thirst no longer, drenching my soul
Poor out like water

You're my only infatuation
Don't leave me stranded in my obsession
My purpose, my possession
Live and die in my obsession, my obsession

Come down to me
Don't ever say that it's over
I kiss your feet, worship the air you breathe
Your love, my gift
You go and I will follow
My dream, my wish
Don't leave me here so helpless

I thirst no longer, drenching my soul
Poor out like water

You're my only infatuation
Don't leave me stranded in my obsession
My purpose, my possession
Live and die in my obsession, my obsession

Am I a lunatic?
I'm going crazy
For just a word from
For just a touch from you
And I'm exploding like chemicals
I'm going crazy, can't get enough

I thirst no longer, drenching my soul
Poor out like water

You're my only infatuation
Don't leave me stranded in my obsession
My purpose, my possession
Live and die in my obsession, my obsession

okay, to the defense of laurim, sky explosion, when it says that... Your touch, your ways Leave me dumb without reson Your love, my cage My prison so pleasing I spend my days tangled in thoughts of you Stuck in this place, resigned to be your fool

i am pretty sure its actually Christian lyrics here, but because you don't think so, allow me to break it down for ya ;)

          "Your touch, your ways
           Leave me dumb without reason"

obviously, God is so great that His touch (metaphorically speaking) and His ways (love) leaves him dumbstruck without reason, now the without reason means that there is no reason why God should love him to do what He did, but he does, so therefore, he is left dumbstruck in aw, and all reason and rationall in the love God has, does not make sense to him (sense none of us can fully grasp nor understand God's love for us)

          "Your love, my cage
           My prison so pleasing
I spend my days tangled in thoughts of you
Stuck in this place, resigned to be your fool"

Okay since he is God's, that means that nobody can pluck him out of God's hand, "Your love, my cage" he is trapped, even if he wants out, even if he didnt want to be a Christian anymore, hes eternally sealed, (he's in a cage) but he DOES want to be there, he is thankful that he has no choice in whether or not God loves him. "I spend my days tangled in thoughts of you" well that's what it says, ill take that one at face value, he's tangled in thoughts of God, thats part of the cage and prison, that happens, especially when you set forth disciplines that allow time for God. "Stuck in this place, resigned to be your fool" as harsh as a term that is used here, i am willing to see "fool" as a humble term and not derogatory towards God. what John is saying is that God is so great that he, as a human is a fool, one who doesnt understand the love of God completely, but that is okay because he is God's. when john says stuck, he is refering to the metaphorical cage of God's love and will, well when you're infatuated and obsessed you tend to go a little loopy and foolish abit (foolish and loopy in the world's eyes) but what he does, he does by faith, and not by reason.... note connect the seemingly lack of reason here to the "without reason" in the second line, you should be starting to pick this up a lil bit now, if not, it can be a bit of a stretch in some ways, but not all too much

This is like part 2 of Thirst is Taking Over from their Alien Youth album. Incredible!

How is it that this is my favorite band and this is another great song from them, yet nobody comments on them?

I'm not entirely sure what the song's about...but I have two different thoughts on it. One being that there's a guy lusting and craving for a girl or even another guy and he just can't get enough of them. He asking them not to "leave him stranded in his obsession", kinda like asking them to feel the same way, maybe? Then my other thought is.. Maybe he's a in a relationship with someone and he's so madly in love but the other person in the relationship is saying "No, its over." "Come down to me Don't ever say that it's over I kiss your feet, worship the air you breathe" Those lines are my main basis for thinking that...but either way, there's my opinion.

Well.... That meaning I have to contradict. Skillet, being a Christian rock band, sang this song for God. The lines 'I thirst.... pour out like water', are proof to the fact. Towards the end he also says, live and die in my obsession which means he wants to live and die for Christ, who is his obsession. Even the line 'I kiss your feet, worship the air you breathe', testify to the fact! I love Skillet!!! :)

Well A Queen Of Snow... they're one of my favorite CHRISTIAN bands and i really doubt they would be singing about a guy lusting after a girl... (or a guy). This song is about God becoming his obsession, learning to live for Him only. "I thirst no longer, drenching my soul."

I heard them play this song a few years ago at a church retreat.

This is by far my favorite Skillet song =]

Hardcore worship yo... Laurim pretty much hit the nail on the head

I do like how John can always find some way to incorporate some sort of masochistic vein into a song about loving someone. And by the way euphoria 277, this is actually more like part four of "Locked in a Cage," if you count "You Take My Rights Away," as part two and "The Thirst" as part three.

And I'm fairly certain that water "pours," and has no money, so it is "poor."

Laurim I don't think this song is about God becoming his obsession. But it could be just a few lyrics don't seem like they fit if thats what its all about like.

Your touch, your ways Leave me dumb without reason Stuck in this place Resigned to be your fool.

Those few lyrics sound a bit bitter and would be about being blind to the truth? Being a fool. And if God is his obsession Then God would be the one blidning him and making him a fool.

SkyExplosion, if you read the Bible, it says 'God chose the foolish to shame the wise'. This is what Skillet is trying to imply. The other lines mentioned say that when God touches our lives it leaves us dumb or in awe... It is about God being his obsission

No No No, This song is definately about God becoming an obsession. When he says " Your touch, Your ways, leave me dumb without reason. " , He's basically saying everything God does for him, and the way it makes him feel, leaves him stunned and amazed. and " Stuck in this place. resigned to be your fool. " basically just means that even if he wanted to leave, he can't because he's thirsty for more of him, and he can't leave, because it's too amazing, therefore resulting being a "fool" for God.

Also, to resign, means to give up, give into, accept, or submit to, so basically saying he's willing to be a "fool."
