All the Wild Horses Lyrics
All the wild horses
All the wild horses
Tethered with tears in their eyes
May no man's touch ever tame
May no man's reigns ever chain you
And may no man's weight ever lay freight to your soul
And as for the clouds
Just let them roll
Roll away
Roll away
As for the clouds
Just let them roll
Roll away
Roll away
All the wild horses
Tethered with tears in their eyes
May no man's reigns ever chain you
And may no man's weight ever lay freight to your soul
Just let them roll
Roll away
Roll away
Just let them roll
Roll away
Roll away

Strange story about this song. I was sleeping, and in my dream, this song was playing. Of course I'd heard it before.. but it fit so well with the dream. I couldn't believe it. It turns out, it had been playing on my iPod, and I'd woken up mid song. Recently, I've been going through a tough time in my relationship with someone. Mainly due to me "changing" myself for him. Or letting him change me, which presents a set of entirely different problems. But today.. was really the climax of our discussion about this. And throughout, I've been playing this song. Over and over. It's been stuck in my head since my dream. So here I am, bawling my eyes out, trying to grasp the meaning of this song. Could you believe how incredibly accurate this song seems, and how it came to me in a dream?
Creepy.
@AbbeyScott I don't think it's creepy. I think it's an insight into who you are. You were meant to be free, and in this world, it's hard to be so. Every relationship binds in some way, as both players vow to care and be cared for, and the entanglement, though invited, is at once both comforting and entangling. There is a place, I believe, where we can both run free, side by side, not tethered to the expectations and fears of the world. I pray your tears flow both joy and release.

To me this song is about a lost time. I envision a western sky and a valley filled with wild horses. A land that civilization has yet to marr. Then my thoughts turn to modern times. Everything is about how we can profit. I see those horses being "wrangled" and torn from their homeland only to be enslaved by man. However, they will always remember how things were. The spirit of the horse will always be wild. Perhaps someday it will again. Until then, they will endure and watch the clouds pass patiently.
WOW. Has anyone HEARD this song? I know it's like.. about horses. But it's just so beautiful. It was on the show Rescue Me last night when the main character's son died.. This song coupled with the fact that a little boy's life was over. Enough for tears, definately.
YES, I heard this song on Rescue Me too, with tears pouring out! What album is it from? Absolutely a beautifull song! My mom met this very shy singer and had a photograph taken with him in Portland Maine.
This song is gorgeous. My favourite from the album.
Yes, it is just so unbelievably beautiful. What images go through your mind when you hear this song?? let me know. he only has one album right?
i dont know about images.... but this song is phenominal
"And may no man's weight ever defrayed your soul"
That lyric is the best in the song its absolutly beautiful
it's from trouble and was perfect in Rescue Me, the greatest new show out there. Also listen to Geffen House's song Just A Dream also in Rescue Me. Same feeling as this one.
This song reminds me of the quote from Sex and the City ('Maybe some women aren't meant to be tamed...')
I feel this song is about women and their relationships with men. He is saying don't ever let a man dictate the way you lead your life (be it a violent relationship or just control). He is comparing certain women to wild horses who are restrained. Don't let a man bring you down or hurt your soul.
