Nighttime sharpens, heightens each sensation
Darkness stirs and wakes imagination
Silently, the senses abandon their defenses

Slowly, gently, night unfurls its splendor
Grasp it, sense it, tremulous and tender
Turn your face away, from the garish light of day
Turn your thoughts away from cold, unfeeling light
And listen to the music of the night

Close your eyes and surrender to your darkest dreams
Purge your thoughts of the life you knew before
Close your eyes, let your spirit start to soar
And you'll live as you've never lived before

Softly, deftly, music shall surround you
Feel it, hear it closing in around you
Open up your mind, let your fantasies unwind
In this darkness which you know you cannot fight
The darkness of the music of the night

Let your mind start a journey to a strange new world
Leave all thoughts of the world you knew before
Let your soul take you where you long to be
Only then can you belong to me

Floating, falling, sweet intoxication
Touch me, trust me, savor each sensation
Let the dream begin, let your darker side give in
To the power of the music that I write
The power of the music of the night

You alone can make my song take flight
Help me make the music of the night

THE LYRICS OF THIS SONG ARE WRONG!!!!!!!!!!! HOW COULD YOU!!!!!!!!!! I WOULD KNOW FOR I HAVE THE ALBEM AND SAW IT ONLY LAST WEEK (friday actualy but...)!!! HOW COULD YOU PUT THE WRONG LYRICS UP??????!?!?!?!?!?!

First of all, for the last two lines of the first stanza, The phantom says nothing because the only thing that rhymes with defenses is untenses, which isn't in the song.

second of all, no offense, but you totaly screwed up the entire second verse and you obviously just got the highlights version of the CD. I will write the correct lyrics here because i'm listening to The Music of the Night right now:

slowly, gently night unfurls its splendor grasp it, sense it tremulous and tender turn your face away from the garish light of day turn your thoughts away from cold unfeeling light and listen to the music of the night

thirdly, you forgot the third verse, which i will write out here (it has a different melody, be warned):

Close your eyes and surrendor to your darkest dreams Purge all thoughts of the life in you before Close your eyes, let your spirit start to soar and you'll live as you've never lived before.

The fourth stanza is ok, but there are a few problems:

softly, deafly, Music shall surround you feel it hear it closing in around you open up you mind let your fantasies unwind in this darkness which you know you cannot fight the darkness of the music of the night Let your mind start journy through a strange new world Leave all thoughts of the world you new before Let your soul take you where you long to be only then can you belong to me

The last stanza is a-ok, and i now relize it is not your fault but the Movie and the highlight's CD that the wrong titles and Lyrics are up everywhere. SEE THE SHOW. or at least get the real CD. trust me.

Gentle Hour
Yo La Tengo
This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version. Great version of a great song,

I Can't Go To Sleep
Wu-Tang Clan
This song is written as the perspective of the boys in the street, as a whole, and what path they are going to choose as they get older and grow into men. (This is why the music video takes place in an orphanage.) The seen, and unseen collective suffering is imbedded in the boys’ mind, consciously or subconsciously, and is haunting them. Which path will the boys choose? Issac Hayes is the voice of reason, maybe God, the angel on his shoulder, or the voice of his forefathers from beyond the grave who can see the big picture and are pleading with the boys not to continue the violence and pattern of killing their brothers, but to rise above. The most beautiful song and has so many levels. Racism towards African Americans in America would not exist if everyone sat down and listened to this song and understood the history behind the words. The power, fear, pleading in RZA and Ghostface voices are genuine and powerful. Issac Hayes’ strong voice makes the perfect strong father figure, who is possibly from beyond the grave.

Just A Little Lovin'
Dusty Springfield
I don't think it's necessarily about sex. It's about wanting to start the day with some love and affection. Maybe a warm cuddle. I'm not alone in interpreting it that way! For example: "'Just a Little Lovin’ is a timeless country song originally recorded by Eddy Arnold in 1954. The song, written by Eddie Miller and Jimmy Campbell, explores the delicate nuances of love and showcases Arnold’s emotive vocals. It delves into the universal theme of love and how even the smallest gesture of affection can have a profound impact on our lives." https://oldtimemusic.com/the-meaning-behind-the-song-just-a-little-lovin-by-eddy-arnold/

Amazing
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran tells a story of unsuccessfully trying to feel “Amazing.” This track is about the being weighed down by emotional stress despite valiant attempts to find some positivity in the situation. This track was written by Ed Sheeran from the perspective of his friend. From the track, we see this person fall deeper into the negative thoughts and slide further down the path of mental torment with every lyric.
