A Ghost in Drag (aka. And the Wick Burnt Black) Lyrics
Can foolhardy love affairs
be more than just wet thighs?
all that you're giving me
I don't recognize
the strength of your beauty's been
somewhere seeking solitude
but you’re just afraid of me
it's all in your eyes
and here we are
my heart's in your hand
we did this all wrong
let's do it again
you're a gun
this bad taste of leaving
will rush through our mouths
the words that I'm sealing
I'll start with now
and if my words were stone
I'd kiss them in your mouth
and though you're the lion
I'll drag you down
let's sing tonight
holding my hand
we could be friends
but I'm better off sleeping alone
I'm nothing, like an urn
I'm filling my body with flesh the you’ve burnt
be more than just wet thighs?
all that you're giving me
I don't recognize
somewhere seeking solitude
but you’re just afraid of me
it's all in your eyes
my heart's in your hand
we did this all wrong
let's do it again
you're a gun
will rush through our mouths
the words that I'm sealing
I'll start with now
I'd kiss them in your mouth
and though you're the lion
I'll drag you down
holding my hand
we could be friends
but I'm better off sleeping alone
I'm filling my body with flesh the you’ve burnt

wow no one commented BEST SONG EVER
it is about how two people like each other but one is hiding it completely being scared maybe for social reasons she will not accept her own love for him and he is saying I dont want to just be friends I want to be something more
I think "and though you're the lion. I'll drag you down " means that she is too proud and he will drag her down to the level everyone shares I dont know kind of a confusing line kind of taking it from the perception of lions being the king/queens of their habitat.
"I'm nothing, like an urn. I'm filling my body with flesh the you’ve burnt" I picture this line being about how everything he does for her she just shoots them down and that is the burning flesh building up inside of him, which is his anger, sadness, all his fading love.
you're right, nitro.. this is an amazing song!! and your interpretation of the lyrics sounds pretty good too..about the lion/being proud, especially
the intro "my glowing morning dreams" is fucking incredible and for my money better than this song itself.
