I should lay around and curse the day
that i fell upon your sword
cause i'm a poor boy
and your smile is a drug
that i can't afford
anymore

you're a tongue-tied talker with sleepy eyes
that always gets the last word
you're not broken
you're just tired and it shows

when you're done acting tough
you only take two and a quarter to get fucked up
and when you say you're in love
you just sound like you're giving up

when you're done acting tough
you only take two and a quarter to get fucked up
and when you say you're in love
you just sound like you're giving up

to say i'll be alright would be a risky bet
cause i'm about as good as i'm going to get
these chains are tight
and the courage that i showed
left a long time ago
just so you know

when you're done acting tough
you only take two and a quarter to get fucked up
and when you say you're in love
you just sound like you're giving up

when you're done acting tough
you only take two and a quarter to get fucked up
and when you say you're in love
you just sound like you're giving up

i love the guitar in this song... it's so sad and sincere sounding. could be about not getting over an ex, but has lots of references to drinking...

this is an incredible song, ive had it on repeat for 2 days straight and am still not sick of it. I think its about a girl with a drinking problem, who is messing this guy around with how much she drinks. And he is finally realising that she is only doing him harm. Love it.

I think it's about liking a girl who chose someone over him who he thinks was not who she would be more happy with. It sounds like he's bitter she's not with him.

He wishes he never fell in love with this girl, he wants to tell her, but his courage has failed him and gone far away. The girl is obviously not ok, and she's damaged.

He wants her to admit that she likes him and that she's in love, cause he's bound to her with chains, which are tightening. And they're hurting both her and him if things get left as they are...

and he wants her to tell him. but to her, it would be an expression of weakness and need. Something she cant handle. thus she acts tough to stop things from becoming too real and desperate i guess.

    totally in love with him.

i don't think there is damaged he says that she's "not broken". i think this girl has had some many problems that she can't handle or do anything right in a relationship. She just can't seem to find her way. She sounds like she just says she's in love cause it's easier for her. i don't know.

Fast Car
Tracy Chapman
"Fast car" is kind of a continuation of Bruce Springsteen's "Born to Run." It has all the clawing your way to a better life, but in this case the protagonist never makes it with her love; in fact she is dragged back down by him. There is still an amazing amount of hope and will in the lyrics; and the lyrics themselve rank and easy five. If only music was stronger it would be one of those great radio songs that you hear once a week 20 years after it was released. The imagery is almost tear-jerking ("City lights lay out before us", "Speeds so fast felt like I was drunk"), and the idea of starting from nothing and just driving and working and denigrating yourself for a chance at being just above poverty, then losing in the end is just painful and inspiring at the same time.

I Can't Go To Sleep
Wu-Tang Clan
This song is written as the perspective of the boys in the street, as a whole, and what path they are going to choose as they get older and grow into men. (This is why the music video takes place in an orphanage.) The seen, and unseen collective suffering is imbedded in the boys’ mind, consciously or subconsciously, and is haunting them. Which path will the boys choose? Issac Hayes is the voice of reason, maybe God, the angel on his shoulder, or the voice of his forefathers from beyond the grave who can see the big picture and are pleading with the boys not to continue the violence and pattern of killing their brothers, but to rise above. The most beautiful song and has so many levels. Racism towards African Americans in America would not exist if everyone sat down and listened to this song and understood the history behind the words. The power, fear, pleading in RZA and Ghostface voices are genuine and powerful. Issac Hayes’ strong voice makes the perfect strong father figure, who is possibly from beyond the grave.

This is a sequel to 2001's "Reckless Abandon", and features the band looking back on their clumsy youth fondly.

Blue
Ed Sheeran
“Blue” is a song about a love that is persisting in the discomfort of the person experiencing the emotion. Ed Sheeran reflects on love lost, and although he wishes his former partner find happiness, he cannot but admit his feelings are still very much there. He expresses the realization that he might never find another on this stringed instrumental by Aaron Dessner.
