Illusive Consensus Lyrics

So sweet caress, never long to last!
You entered my soul and gave hope to my life.

So sweet caress, never hope to last!
You left me behind all alone and aghast
Capured inside such an austere Elysium

Imperfect feelings, futile greef
Love a device against all solitude
As it all went on, the love became
A field in a dream that once had been real

So sweet caress, never long to last!
Destroy this illusion we need a change of fate!
Your frantic thoughts are only a condemned cry

Primo somniare videbamur
deinde veritas se praecipitavit

I secretly longed for something
which had never existed

First I thought it was a dream
but then it smashed into reality
Beautiful on the outside, decayed deeply within

I secretly longed for something
which had never existed

Devoted to a body without a soul

Numquam non tibi diffidam

Mark himself stated on the 'We will take you with us'-DVD that the song is about false love and how love can turn into hatred.

I really recognize the situation as described in the song from events in my own life. Love blinds us and makes the person you love beautiful and flawless.

But when you realise that the person that you love is playing a character and it is this character you fell in love with and not this person, this love can turn into hate. The one you loved never existed.. This person betrayed you, played with you.. and now you've come to sense, you're realising this.

The latin parts Twam translated fit in perfectly with this. Don't you think?

Does anyone have the exact translations of the Latin parts?

I translated them for myself and came up with:

Primo somniare videbamur deinde veritas se praecipitavit

First we saw dreams, then the truth forced itself on to us

and: Numquam non tibi diffidam

Never did I not doubt you

I think it's a great song, but I just wondered what those parts meant :)
