This ballade is written after the homocide on the dutch right-winged poltician Pim Fortuyn.
The 1st verse profiles Fortuyn as the person who would bring a huge change to dutch society, but who was brutaly put to silence by those who didn't shared his political visions. Also gives support to Fortuyn's case, stating that it was the truth.
The chorus basically says the same. Fortuyn moved political mountains and he faced the problems in society like no other did before him. And this was most impressive.
The 2nd verse refers to Fortuyn's party who are nothing without their leader.
The intro to the bridge states that dutch politics lost their innoscence on that day.
And the bridge tells us that this event will echo through dutch history and for long we will keep on feeling the consequences of this act.

I always thought it was about somebody's existence that simply broke down lies of a tyrannic government or something. Like the Hunger Games; Katniss' existence made her government angry and showed its true nature. She revealed the lies which were the "foundation" of the government's rule. The "black page" represents the Dark Days, Hunger Games and the War thereafter, and Panem was never the same again (and nothing seems, in life, in dreams, like what was meant to be)

Maybe if you had to live in fear of being gang raped by muslims while knowing your PC poisoned government wont prosecute because they dont want to come off as culturally insensitive or racist, you might feel differently. This is a common, huge problem over that way, even worse in Oslo (Oslo has more rapes per capita than sin city, and significantly less convictions).
