I am searching
I am not alone
I am searching
Please, give me some
Have we lost direction
Washed our hands of blood
I'm in need of sensation
Is there more to this love
Saw a mother screaming
She had lost control
Of what she once believed in
And she was not alone
If you could face the pain
And I could do the same
It would be clear tomorrow
But will it start, but will it start again
I am searching
I am not alone
I am searching
Please, give me some
Saw a mother screaming
She had lost control
Of what she once believed in
And she was not alone
Have we lost direction
Washed our hands of blood
I'm in need of sensation
Is there more to this love
If you could face the pain
And I could do the same
It would be clear tomorrow
But will it start, but will it start again
I am searching
I am not alone
I am searching
Please, show me some
I am searching
I am not alone
I am searching
Please, show me some
Love
I am not alone
I am searching
Please, give me some
Washed our hands of blood
I'm in need of sensation
Is there more to this love
She had lost control
Of what she once believed in
And she was not alone
And I could do the same
It would be clear tomorrow
But will it start, but will it start again
I am not alone
I am searching
Please, give me some
She had lost control
Of what she once believed in
And she was not alone
Washed our hands of blood
I'm in need of sensation
Is there more to this love
And I could do the same
It would be clear tomorrow
But will it start, but will it start again
I am not alone
I am searching
Please, show me some
I am not alone
I am searching
Please, show me some

This is my favorite INXS song. The lyrics seem like a raw thought dialect of inner turmoil. I think the song was about Michael searching for answers about his life. He was in a toxic relationship with someone who appeared to be codependent and manipulative. It seemed he was questioning the relationship with “Have we lost direction”, “Is there more to this love”. Assuming the mother in the song was his baby’s mother who also had other children. Perhaps he was seeing her unraveling and realized she was not the person he initially fell in love with. “Saw a mother screaming; she had lost control of what she once believed in and she was not alone”. Maybe they both knew the relationship was heading down a path neither wanted but weren’t sure how to end it. I know this is about lyrics, but Michael Hutchence singing this song at the Aria awards is beautiful and heartbreaking all at once.
I really love this song and the way Michael sings it. The line " I am not alone, and she is not alone" has always puzzled me. Do you think he took inspiration from Michael Jackson's " I am not alone " song?
